    Position Summary

    The Girls LEAP Lead Teacher is responsible for designing and facilitating engaging, empowering learning experiences that support girls’ academic growth, leadership development, and social-emotional well-being. The Lead Teacher serves as a positive role model and creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where girls can build confidence, skills, and community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instruction & Program Delivery

    • Plan and lead high-quality lessons aligned with the Girls LEAP curriculum and program goals
    • Facilitate activities focused on leadership, self-confidence, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
    • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of participants.
    • Incorporate culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching practices

    Classroom & Group Management

    • Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
    • Establish clear expectations and promote respectful behavior
    • Support conflict resolution and social-emotional growth

    Student Support & Engagement

    • Build strong, trusting relationships with students
    • Encourage participation, voice, and leadership among all girls
    • Identify and respond to students’ academic or emotional needs, escalating concerns when appropriate

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Collaborate with program staff, coordinators, and site partners
    • Communicate effectively with families and caregivers as needed
    • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development

    Program Administration

    • Track attendance, participation, and progress
    • Complete required documentation and reports accurately and on time
    • Support program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience working with children or adolescents (school, after-school, nonprofit, or youth development settings)
    • Strong classroom or group facilitation skills
    • Commitment to empowering girls and supporting equity and inclusion
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
    • Teaching credential or youth development certification
    • Experience with social-emotional learning (SEL), leadership programs, or girls-focused initiatives
    • Bilingual abilities (a plus, depending on program needs)
