Israel Policy Forum is a nonpartisan U.S. organization that advances policy ideas and educates community leaders to support effective U.S. engagement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. POSITION SUMMARY

The Policy and Government Relations Associate (PGRA) will be a fully integrated member of IPF’s Policy and Government Relations team based in Washington, DC. Under the supervision of the Washington Managing Director, the PGRA will provide research, writing, and analytical support for IPF policy products and support day-to-day operations and engagements across the policy community.

The Associate will contribute substantively to IPF’s written policy output, support senior staff in preparing for external outreach and engagements, and track relevant legislation, policy developments, and stakeholder activity in Washington.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide written and verbal analysis on policy issues and news developments relevant to IPF priorities, including contributions to issue explainers, policy briefs, reports, and other written products, as well as coordination with the Communications team on social media content
• Provide research, drafting, and project support, including project coordination, administrative, and logistical functions, to senior members of IPF’s policy team and Policy Fellows to support development of policy analysis and special reports
• Provide logistical, coordination, and administrative support to senior policy team members related to outreach and engagement across the policy community, primarily in Washington, D.C.
• Generate ideas and support for engagement initiatives, events, and programs such as policy briefings, roundtable discussions, and stakeholder delegations to Israel
• In close partnership with the Washington Managing Director, support communications and coordination with members of the IPF Policy Council including drafting and sending correspondence, scheduling and participating in meetings, and managing logistics as needed
• Track Israel Policy Forum’s congressional engagement efforts, including records of congressional meetings, relationships, successes, and impact, and support all government relations initiatives, including preparation of materials and coordination of virtual and in-person meetings
• Monitor developments on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, and across the diplomatic policy community, including summarizing hearings, markups, press briefings, and other relevant developments

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in policy research and analysis, government relations, Capitol Hill, executive branch, politics, or other commensurate experience
• Familiarity with Congress, the legislative process, the executive branch, and the U.S. political system
• Strong knowledge of Israel-related issues, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the U.S.-Israel relationship
• Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities, and ability to maintain a high level of calm and
• professionalism
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to edit, proofread, and ensure the
• accuracy of finished work products
• Outstanding time management skills with an ability to be responsive to revisions and meet
• deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to execute short-term, deadline-driven daily tasks, as well as to manage
• multiple long-term projects requiring input from and collaboration with others
• Ability to take initiative, be resourceful, and exhibit a problem-solving mindset, and a desire to learn
• new skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a variety of cross-functional
• departments and build and maintain relationships
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Todoist or other project management software, and
• event management software such as RSVPify. Experience with a CRM database, particularly Salesforce, is preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The annual salary range is $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience and aligned with organizational compensation practices. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications typically start at the range minimum.

Israel Policy Forum is based in New York, NY and has an office in Washington, DC. New York and Washington, DC staff work in person one to three days per week.
