    The Africa-America Institute bridges Africa and its diaspora to catalyze a more sustainable and equitable world. Taking a transcontinental, multifaceted approach, our programs span across four impact pillars: Liberatory Education, Community Building, Global Healing and Repair, and Economic Sovereignty.

    Since our founding in 1953, over 23,000 Africans have received AAI scholarships and fellowships. Included in this community are H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa; H.E. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire; H.E. Nangolo Mbumba, President of the Republic of Namibia; the late Dr. Wangari Maathai; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former United Nations Under-Secretary- General and Executive Director of UN Women; Strive Masiyiwa, Founder & Executive Chairman, Econet Wireless; and thousands more.

    At this pivotal point in our 73-year long history, AAI is searching for its next President and CEO. The expectations of the role include:

    • Guide the vision, mission and long term goals for the Africa-America Institute
    • Represent the organization in ways that strengthen its profile
    • Manage and delegate responsibilities to consultants and staff working on programs
    • Manage required reporting on all programmatic related grants
    • Manage all convenings related to programs
    • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
    • Domestic and international travel is required

    Expected Experience

    • At least 10 years of experience working on international development issues
    • Experience working in an African country building partnerships for a US-based organization
    • Proven track record in fundraising
    • Experience managing a team
