    About LEEP

LEEP is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit that aims to eliminate childhood lead poisoning, which affects an estimated one in three children worldwide. We primarily focus on one important source of exposure: lead paint. Our paint programs involve generating data, supporting governments with the introduction and enforcement of regulation, and assisting manufacturers in switching to lead-free paints. Beyond our paint programs, we are piloting interventions to address other sources of lead exposure, such as spices and cosmetics.

Since our founding in September 2020:

    About the Role

LEEP is seeking diplomatic and detail-oriented professionals to drive and strengthen our stakeholder engagement and program work across Africa. As a Partnership Manager, you will play a key role in building and maintaining strategic relationships with government agencies, regional bodies, and international organisations. You will also contribute directly to the success of our programs by coordinating events, managing subgrantees, and ensuring activities align with LEEP’s mission.

As LEEP grows, we aim to engage in more strategic partnerships with regional bodies across the continent to accelerate our progress in current programs. In parallel, we plan to start new programs and support governments we have not yet engaged with, thereby further scaling our impact across Africa. We are looking for candidates who are highly organised and adept at communication, particularly across contexts and cultures. With oversight from the Head of Program Partnerships and in collaboration with colleagues, you will help strengthen LEEP’s relationships and drive our programs forward.

    Responsibilities

With guidance from the Head of Program Partnerships, the role will include:

    • Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations
      • Build and manage relationships with international bodies (e.g., UNEP, WHO, ARSO, ECOWAS) and represent LEEP at regional/international meetings.
      • Help foster and maintain relationships with government stakeholders in LEEP’s paint programs.
      • Conduct situational analyses to identify relevant government agencies and stakeholders in target countries.
      • Draft and send formal correspondence (e.g., letters, policy briefs) to key government officials and agencies.
    • Project Implementation
      • Organise and coordinate regional workshops, including logistics, content development, and post-event follow-ups (e.g., progress updates on regulation adoption).
      • Work with partners in various steps of projects, including event execution, data collection, reporting, and reviewing subgrantee performance.
      • Ensure alignment between subgrant activities and LEEP’s strategic goals.
      • Event and Travel CoordinationPlan and execute side events at international forums (e.g., Global Framework on Chemicals meetings).
      • Coordinate travel for project-related meetings, country visits, and stakeholder engagements.
    • Cross-Team Collaboration
      • Support the Programs team in input gathering, documentation, and reporting.
    • Assist with a variety of other tasks across LEEP as required

    What We’re Looking For

A successful applicant will possess most of the following:

    • Passion for LEEP’s mission and a strong commitment to achieving meaningful, scalable impact
    • Strong interpersonal skills and adeptness at understanding the perspectives of various stakeholders and collaborating towards shared goals
    • Outstanding stakeholder management and diplomatic skills
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
    • Proficient in using online tools and software to organise self and others
    • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, project management, and event coordination (e.g., governments, NGOs, multilateral agencies).
    • Experience coordinating multi-country projects or programs
    • Excellent organisational and event management skills
    • Professional experience collaborating with African governments, regional bodies or civil society organisations
    • Ability and willingness to work across a broad range of tasks
    • Enterprising, a quick learner, and creative problem-solver
    • Capable of working in a remote environment
    • Willing to travel for at least 8 to 12 weeks per year

    Other promising attributes:

    • Full professional proficiency in other languages, in particular: French
    • Experience living and/or working in low- and middle-income countries, particularly English-speaking African countries

We are most interested in talent, not credentials. If you don’t fit some of the above criteria but think you are a good fit for this role, we’d love to see you apply.

    Work Environment

Our culture is one of genuine care for each other and passion for our work and its impact. We are a team that values collaboration, openness, and mutual support, which creates an environment where everyone can thrive while contributing to meaningful work.

Though we are a remote team, we are supportive and close-knit. We stay connected through weekly team calls and 1:1 calls, where we have conversations about both non-work and work topics; we regularly share photos and celebrate milestones and successes in our Slack; and we come together annually for an in-person retreat to strengthen relationships and reflect on our mission.

Our team of 29 people is based across five continents and speaks over 10 languages. We have diverse expertise, from medicine to environmental health to international law.

Our work schedule is flexible. Some of the team work 9-5:30, and some adjust their daily schedule around school pick-up. We value work-life balance and rarely contact the team members outside their work hours.

LEEP is seeking diplomatic and highly organized professionals with exceptional communication skills to support stakeholder engagement and program implementation in many of our programs in Africa.
