    Position Summary

    The Bronx Community Foundation seeks an accomplished, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented Director of Development & Communications to drive the Foundation’s fundraising, corporate partnerships, and external engagement strategy. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director will be a key leader responsible for cultivating and stewarding major individual donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic stakeholders, while elevating the Foundation’s brand and communications presence.

    The ideal candidate is a superior communicator and strategist with a proven track record of securing significant philanthropic support, managing high-level external relationships, and translating vision into measurable results. This leader must combine business acumen with authentic community connection, embodying the Foundation’s values and representing the aspirations of Bronx residents with integrity, care, and innovation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Development & Fundraising

    • Design and execute a comprehensive development strategy centered on major individual donors, corporate partnerships, and institutional philanthropy.
    • Partner directly with the Executive Director to achieve the Foundation’s annual fundraising goal.
    • Build, manage, and expand a portfolio of high-value donor and partner relationships, ensuring strong stewardship and sustainable growth.
    • Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and partnership strategies that align with donor and partner priorities.
    • Engage the ED, Board, and Development Committees to maximize networks and fundraising capacity.
    • Establish and track progress against fundraising KPIs, ensuring accountability, transparency, and measurable results.

    Communications & External Affairs

    • Lead the Foundation’s communications strategy, strengthening brand visibility and positioning across media, digital, and thought leadership platforms.
    • Craft compelling narratives and donor communications that elevate the Foundation’s impact, visibility, and brand.
    • Demonstrate event planning expertise to produce the Foundation’s annual gala, donor cultivation events, and high-visibility community initiatives.
    • Ensure all communications authentically represent Bronx residents, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to equity, transparency, and community voice.

    Leadership & Collaboration

    • Partner with staff, Board members, and community leaders to design initiatives that reflect Bronx community needs and priorities.
    • Partner with strategic committees such as Development Committees, Advisory Councils, or Board subcommittees, aligning their work with organizational fundraising and communications goals.
    • Mentor and oversee development and communications staff, consultants, and interns, building a high-performing team.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in development and communications, ideally within the nonprofit, philanthropic, or corporate social responsibility sectors.
    • Demonstrated success securing major gifts and corporate partnerships, with a record of year-over-year fundraising growth.
    • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills; ability to translate complex strategies into compelling cases for support.
    • Superior presentation and public speaking skills; confident representing an organization in high-level external settings.
    • Deep event planning and execution expertise, particularly with galas, cultivation events, and large-scale community activations.
    • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace, Salesforce, Mailchimp, Canva, and/or similar fundraising, communications, and design platforms.
    • Highly detail-oriented, KPI- and data-driven, with exceptional project management skills.
    • Experience managing strategic committees (Development Committees, Advisory Councils, Board subcommittees).
    • Entrepreneurial and flexible work style; thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Authentic care, cultural fluency, and deep connection to Bronx residents and communities.
    • Strategic thinker and innovator with the ability to turn vision into measurable action and impact.

    Compensación

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary range: $110,000 – $135,000, commensurate with experience
    • Hybrid work flexibility balancing remote and in-person presence at the Foundation’s Bronx office
