Part-Time Operations Assistant

Hill Center, located in the Civil War-era Old Naval Hospital, has undergone a landmark rehabilitation, and now operates as a vibrant center for lifelong learning, cultural and arts enrichment, and community connections. Located in the heart of the diverse and dynamic Capitol Hill neighborhood near historic Eastern Market, the Center offers a wide range of classes, exhibits, lectures, performances and social programs. Position Summary:

• We are seeking a dynamic individual to provide parttime support (

20-25 hours per week) to the Operations and Private Events teams at Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic, flexible, detail-oriented and creative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are imperative.

Key Responsibilities:

• • Work with the Operations and Private Events Teams to execute programming and private rentals including on-site facilitation of evening and weekend events and classes.
  • Execute tasks using WordPress, facility management and CRM software.
  • Provide A/V technical and customer service support.
  • Update Hill Center’s website, ticketing system, and internal reservation system with new classes and events.
  • Staff the Reception Desk as needed.
  • Assist with Hill Center Galleries administrative tasks and art sales.
  • Draft floor plans for program offerings and private events.
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs with prospective clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant work experience, including internships.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills suitable to creating and maintaining a positive impression of the Center as an ideal location for private events and public program offerings.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate events and programmatic activities with limited supervision.
  • Ability to make independent, cost-effective judgment calls which ensure a positive experience for Hill Center patrons.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, Google Drive, and website content management systems. Experience with MailChimp and WordPress (or comparable programs) highly preferred.
  • Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • A self-motivated team player with organizational/logistics experience. Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills required.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work consistently on 1-2 weekday evenings (approx. 1pm-9pm) plus additional hours on weekends.
  • If hired, the candidate must obtain a Beverage Manager’s License within the first 30 days of start date.

Compensation Range: $23-$25/hour
