Position
The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America (SHI NA) has an exciting new opportunity for a creative, motivated, and thoughtful individual to elevate the voice of the Institute and the ways it engages stakeholders and communicates about the most pressing issues affecting Jewish life with a broad spectrum of audiences though its marketing and communications work.
The Vice President of Strategic Communications and Engagement will guide the Institute’s strategy for how to use its public voice and brand to amplify the impact of our ideas, engage stakeholders through telling the story of SHI/SHI NA, and support the educational goals of our programs. This leader will manage a team responsible for implementation of all communications functions (including PR, email, and social channels), and marketing for SHI NA and its programs.
We are looking for a highly strategic innovator who is conversant at a leadership level about the issues, challenges, and opportunities of a multifaceted complex organization; experienced in guiding an organization through narrative definition process, and with experience and credibility to gain buy-in and implement successfully.
Reporting directly to the CEO, and based in our NY Office four days per week, this person will have an important role to play in shaping the story of the Institute.

Qualifications
Minimum 20 years of experience in strategy and strategic marketing, including senior leadership roles in complex organizations
Strong strategic conceptualization tools, including guiding team members to approach tactical work in alignment to strategic objectives
Excellent communication skills including experience in editing, writing, and public speaking
Deep understanding of major issues facing Israel and North American Jewish life and communal tensions regarding Israeli politics; a commitment to SHI’s values‐based approach
Passion for driving new thinking and innovation to elevate organizational growth
Demonstrated success in guiding organizations through the process of defining and implementing brand narrative
Experience managing outside consultant resources, budgets, and deliverables
Experience in communicating with major donors and executive stakeholders
Willingness to execute tactically alongside team members
Flexible work style with the ability to work under tight deadlines and with shifting priorities in a dynamic, high‐energy environment
Exceptionally organized and detail‐oriented with a strong professional demeanor;
Good sense of humor
MA or equivalent
Willingness to travel, including stays of 7-10 days (potentially more) to Jerusalem twice a year
Salary range and benefits: $165,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience. Very competitive benefits package. SHI NA is an equal opportunity employer.
