    Position Summary

The American Economic Liberties Project (AELP) is a leading advocacy organization focused on challenging concentrated economic power, promoting fair markets, and protecting democratic values. We seek a talented strategist with deep experience working in Congress to advance the anti-monopoly agenda with policymakers to deliver tangible impact for American workers, consumers, and business owners.

This position will take the lead in crafting and executing the Congressional strategy for the American Economic Liberties Project and our 501c4 sister organization, Fight Corporate Monopolies. The position will report to the Director of Policy and Advocacy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to advance Economic Liberties’ federal legislative agenda, with a focus on priorities such as antitrust, healthcare, airlines, Big Tech, AI, pricing, trade, and other emerging issues.
    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with Congressional offices, to promote Economic Liberties’ policy framework and drive meaningful legislative action.
    • Produce high-impact written materials—including briefing memos, talking points, letters, and policy summaries—grounded in Economic Liberties’ original research, to inform and equip policymakers and their staff.
    • Organize, lead, and participate in briefings, meetings, and events with Congressional staff, members, and other policymakers to elevate antimonopoly issues.
    • Provide timely and concise legislative updates, tracking and analyzing activity on Capitol Hill relevant to organization priorities.
    • Conduct research and analysis on Congressional committees and key decision-makers central to advancing anti-monopoly and competition policy.
    • Coordinate with other American Economic Liberties Project staff to review legislation and provide feedback to congressional offices.
    • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support Economic Liberties’ mission and respond to a dynamic policy environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Deeply committed to building a fair, inclusive, and dynamic economy by challenging concentrated corporate power and advancing anti-monopoly policies.
    • Experience in government relations on Capitol Hill, ideally with multiple years of experience working in a Hill office.
    • Deep understanding of Congressional policymaking and procedure.
    • Established relationships with Congressional offices.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing policy materials and delivering persuasive presentations to a range of audiences.
    • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Self-starter with the ability to independently develop, drive, and complete projects with minimal supervision.
    • Creative thinker who is enthusiastic about developing innovative advocacy strategies to achieve policy wins and advance anti-monopoly reforms.
    • Experienced in building and managing relationships with coalition partners to collaborate and drive towards the implementation of an economic populist agenda.
