Web developer

Position Description:

AAANY is seeking an experienced, full-stack web developer to support the expansion and refinement of our proprietary client and donor database. The right candidate will work closely with AAANY’s Director of Programs, IT Specialist, and other stakeholders to 1) add analytics tools to our internal database to analyze community engagement, programmatic impact, and demographic/programmatic shifts; and 2) refine digital security tools to ensure that we are not compromising the safety, security, or privacy of our clients as we seek to expand the scope of our data collection and analysis.

Strong candidates will have hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (and SQL more broadly), Node.js frameworks like Express or Koa, query builders like Knex.js, modern frontend frameworks such as React or Vue, CSS (Tailwind), test tooling, simple CI/CD, Git, and deployment processes. Beyond specific technologies, candidates should have a foundational understanding of web technologies and how the internet actually works, as well as comfort moving between layers (infrastructure, backend, frontend) while making architectural decisions that consider the system as a whole and the security of the data within. While the original application developer remains involved in the project and will be available on a limited basis to answer questions and provide support, the person in this position will be expected to work and solve problems independently.
