    Ethos is currently seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer to join the Ethos Senior Leadership team. This is a full-time exempt position that requires in-office presence with the potential for a hybrid work schedule. The current starting salary range is $140,000 - $180,000 annual and includes an excellent benefit package.

    SUMMARY OVERVIEW: As a key member of the Senior Leadership team, the Chief HR Officer is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the mission and strategic direction of the agency, specifically in the areas of talent management, compliance, labor relations, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, compensation, and succession planning. The CHRO will demonstrate focus and effective leadership around Ethos’ culture and workforce initiatives. The CHRO is expected to be a hands-on leader who drives execution, enforces standards, and builds sustainable processes that enhance organizational effectiveness and reduce operational risk.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide Executive-level leadership and guidance to Ethos HR operations and take responsibility for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resource policies, procedures, and best practices. Enhance or develop human resources policies and employee handbook as needed to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the agency.
    • Ensure all relevant human resources related state and federal legal and regulatory guidelines and standards are met and/or exceeded. These include but are not limited to wage and hour guidelines, worker’s compensation, and fair employment practices.
    • Manage HR-related risks and legal matters, including working with labor counsel as needed.
    • Build and lead a high-performing HR Team with clear roles, expectations, and accountability.
    • Oversee HR systems (ADP) to ensure accurate data management and reporting integrity.
    • In coordination with the agency’s strategic plan, establish and maintain clear performance expectations for all employees. Ensure that management is held accountable for performance expectations of their direct reports
    • Identify and implement strategies to address recruitment, retention, engagement, development, and alignment across the agency.
      • Oversee full recruitment operations, ensuring timely hiring and alignment with workforce needs.
      • Monitor key workforce metrics, including turnover, vacancies, and time-to-fill.
      • Promote diversity in hiring, training, promotion and retention programs.
      • Coordinate efforts and processes to select, retain, and develop talent and expertise in employees.
      • Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional recruitment sources.
      • Work with program managers and directors to meet departmental diversity goals.
      • Educate supervisors, managers, and directors on diversity issues.
      • Act as the Affirmative Action Officer; create and/or update the AA Plan.
    • In partnership with the CEO and senior leadership team, foster a spirit of inclusion and collaboration so all parties are working together to provide the highest quality, and most effective performance.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits programs that are competitive and cost effective for employees and Ethos.
      • Implement new benefit programs; research and change providers as needed.
      • Work with the Insurance Benefits Broker to plan for annual benefit open enrollment period.
      • Conduct an annual review of senior management executive compensation.
    • Working with the Chief Financial Strategy Officer, review and provide salary and benefit projections to Chief Executive Officer.
    • Primarily responsible for compliance and regulations of the Ethos 403(b) Retirement Plan in coordination with both the retirement plan TPA and financial advisors. Oversee the completion of the annual census, testing, and 403(b) audit process. Participate in the semi-annual Investment Committee meeting with the plan financial advisors. Coordinate necessary staff education sessions provided by the financial advisors and/or plan provider.
    • Maintain Ethos MA CORI certification and list of authorized submitters and receivers of CORI information. Periodically audit all Agency CORI files. Ensure Ethos CORI Policy is up-to-date and the Agency is compliant.
    • Establish credibility throughout the agency to be an effective listener and problem solver of employee issues.
    • Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks including the ASAP HR Group.
    • Oversee employee and labor relations including:
      • Management of the Collective Bargaining Agreement; participate in union negotiations.
      • Oversee performance evaluation and create process guides.
      • Oversee corrective action processes including HR involvement and documentation.
      • Address communications and morale concerns.
    • Coordinate with departments to create and sustain positive employee relations and facilitate effective communications between employees and management.
    • Perform organizational analysis: assist in design of organizational structure, job functions and job descriptions.
    • Oversee agency-wide training including orientation, diversity programs, employee recognition, wellness activities, safety, general and supervisory skills, etc.
      • Identify staff and management training needs; develop and provide or source training as needed.
      • Create systems and guidance for managers and individuals to advance professional development.
      • Work with supervisors/managers to assist with designing consistent and effective supervision utilizing the ADP Performance module 1:1 meeting program.
    • Along with the IT Manager, serve as the Ethos Data Security Co-coordinator. Ensure compliance with the agency WISP (Written Information Security Plan), and facilitate training for all staff, interns, and contract workers. Review and update the plan to reflect any changes in business practices, sensitivity of personal employee and/or client data, technology and foreseeable internal/external data security threats.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by Chief Executive Officer.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business or related area or at least 8 years of experience in lieu of degree, HR Certification and advanced HR training a plus.
    2. 3 to 5 years of Human Resources experience in the following areas: employee relations, labor relations, compensation design/administration, benefit design/administration, recruiting, training, and affirmative action.
    3. Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.
    4. Experience in a unionized environment strongly preferred
    5. Ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct memos, policies, responses to complaints and inquiries, etc.
    6. Ability to create and deliver training sessions.
