ABOUT US
Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG) coordinates large-scale pro bono programs and issue advocacy efforts to ensure that all levels of government (national, state, and local) protect human rights and provide equal justice under the law. We believe not only in the establishment and enforcement of equality under the law, but in the creation of social and economic conditions that lead to true equity. We currently run programs in the following areas: immigration, climate change, racial justice, voting rights, government accountability, and responding to emergent legal needs.
L4GG is a fully remote organization with employees distributed across the country. We are in an active period of growth, with a significant number of open roles in recruitment and a comparable hiring volume expected through the remainder of the year and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
L4GG is hiring a full-time Data and Outcomes Specialist to design and implement data collection and reporting strategies that capture and communicate the impact of L4GG's programs. This position sits within the Development department and plays a critical role in strengthening L4GG's grant applications and reporting while building capacity for outcomes measurement across the organization. The person who succeeds in this role will be analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled at translating complex data into accessible narratives that demonstrate L4GG's impact. This position reports to the Senior Development Manager and will work in close cross-departmental relationships with program teams, the Development team, and Communications staff.
Specific Job Responsibilities include:
Grant Support and Reporting (40%)
- Build and manage sustainable, scalable data collection systems and processes that help gather and analyze program data, monitor progress, and measure real-world impacts of L4GG’s programs in partnership with program staff and the Development team
- Develop standardized templates, metrics, and reporting processes for common funder requirements
- Create compelling outcomes narratives and data visualizations for grant proposals and reports
- Ensure compliance with grantor evaluation and reporting requirements by tracking deliverables and coordinating with program teams
- Seek to benchmark L4GG's work against sector standards
- Provide guidance to program staff on incorporating evaluation into program design from inception
Organizational Evaluation Strategy (30%)
- Lead the development and implementation of organization-wide evaluation frameworks to systematically capture program impact and outcomes
- Work with program directors to articulate clear, measurable outcomes for L4GG's programs and initiatives
- Coordinate with Communications and program teams to understand the current landscape of data gathering across L4GG and make recommendations for streamlining data collection
- Design and implement evaluation projects, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, case studies, and other qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Train staff on evaluation methodologies, data collection best practices, and data analysis techniques
- Maintain evaluation calendars and project timelines to ensure systematic assessment across programs
Data Management and Analysis (20%)
- Clean, prepare, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources
- Summarize data quality issues, implementation feedback, and key learnings in clear, usable formats (spreadsheets, dashboards, reports)
- Conduct targeted analyses to document program outcomes and impact
- Create periodic summaries and scorecards tracking program performance over time
- Ensure data integrity and develop systems for secure data storage and management
- Identify compelling success stories and trends that illustrate L4GG's impact
Communications and Knowledge Sharing (10%)
- Translate evaluation findings into accessible reports, presentations, infographics, and workshops for internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Communications team to develop public-facing impact stories and materials that showcase L4GG's outcomes
- Present findings to staff, leadership, Board, Advisory Council, and funders in compelling and actionable formats
- Develop case studies and success stories that capture program impact and support fundraising efforts
- Create resources that help staff understand and articulate the impact of their work
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications:
- Previous education or work experience in evaluation, social science, public policy, statistics, or related fields
- 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing program evaluations and grant reports, preferably in nonprofit or social justice settings specific to grant funding
- Familiarity with grant reporting requirements and funder evaluation frameworks
- Demonstrated proficiency with both quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Excellent written communication skills with ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences
- Experience developing surveys, interview protocols, and other data collection instruments
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Commitment to L4GG's mission and understanding of social justice issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with program staff, leadership, and external stakeholders
- Proficiency with G-Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Share Drives
- Access to a quiet workspace with high-speed internet and ability to participate in video conferences during work hours
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fully remote environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous remote work experience
- Experience working in nonprofit development or fundraising environments
- Experience with legal services evaluation or outcomes measurement in access to justice programs
- Knowledge of human rights, immigration, racial justice, or other areas relevant to L4GG's programmatic work
- Familiarity with Asana, Slack, Airtable, and other remote collaboration tools
- Experience training or coaching staff on evaluation and data collection practices
- Understanding of participatory evaluation approaches and community-based research methods
