    Manager (Workforce and Economic Development)

    Position Summary:

    AACC’s work with General Motors will support efforts to align community college talent with emerging and current advanced manufacturing industry needs. The Manager will provide oversight of and technical assistance to three learning cohorts of community college grantees focused on: early career and technical skill exposure, community college advanced manufacturing & associated career and technical programs, and colleges engaged in electric vehicle-related programs including infrastructure, technician and repair programs. This will include individual and cohort aggregate meetings. The position includes working with the funder, AACC members, and other organizations and individuals, as appropriate.

    Primary Responsibilities:

      • Serves as a primary AACC contact on this work, overseeing and executing daily operations of a time-bound, one-year initiative, focused on advanced manufacturing talent pipelines supported by General Motors
      • Streamlines communication between and among all cohort members and AACC team so all are aware of project progress with recommendations on solutions
      • Constantly assesses and identifies problems as they arise so deliverables and project benchmarks stay on track by generating, gaining approval for, and applying solutions
      • Effectively prioritizes work, and presents both planned and unplanned issues regularly to project team for progress
      • Collaborates effectively with initiative partners
      • Supports the design and drafting of project reports to the funder utilizing the synthesis of individual partner submissions
      • Supports the AACC Workforce Grants manager in organizing, executing, and the ongoing management of approximately 18 subgrantee agreements
      • Oversees subgrantee performance with the project team by collecting and documenting major deliverables and expenditure tracking
      • Coordinates development of content, advance work, and action planning for the project team meetings and events (in-person and virtual)
      • Ensures that promising practices are collected and distributed appropriately through partner opportunities (e.g. at appropriate events, and among funder-aligned groups)
      • Stays current with guidelines and requirements related to this initiative
      • Coordinates planning and execution of technical assistance
      • Monitors project budget together with team and identify areas where adjustments or reallocations may be necessary as approved by the SVP to accomplish project goals.

    Education/Training/Experience:

      • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
      • Direct experience working in or with community colleges individually and/or state-wide systems
      • Experience in a multi-year, multi-partner, project
      • Experience working on a grant, contract, or cooperative agreement
      • Proficiency in standard office computer/software applications

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

      • Understanding of students in community colleges
      • Skill in, and appreciation for, a highly collaborative team approach to complex tasks, both within AACC and with partner organizations
      • Superior project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities on tight timelines
      • Superior skills in oral and written communication
      • Demonstrated ability to interact credibly and effectively with community colleges, organization leaders, and national level partners

    Compensation - $80,000.00

    Geographic Requirement:

    This position will be housed at the AACC headquarters in Washington, DC.

    Physical Requirements

      • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Must be able to lift 15lbs at times.

    Status: This is a time-bound grant-funded position and is contingent on receipt and continuation of grant funds and on satisfactory evaluation of performance.
