    Job title: Communications associate/digital organizer

    Position Type: Full Time, Exempt

    Salary: $45,000-50,000/year (DOE)

    Location: Las Cruces, NM

    Organization Overview: NM CAFe is a network of diverse religious institutions and community-based organizations across Southern New Mexico committed to building relational power with and for New Mexicans who have been directly impacted by systems of injustice. We are working toward building an inclusive economy that centers working people and families and treats those people with dignity. This means building power to shape public policy at the local, state, and national levels and teach our leaders how to be effective public people.

    Position: The communications associate/digital organizer will lead NM CAFe’s education, communications and social media campaigns. A successful candidate will drive narrative change, document and elevate the campaigns of our organizing teams, create educational material, and build CAFe’s digital brand. Must understand the mission, goals, and objectives of the organization and incorporate that knowledge for effective, impactful, and measurable communications outcomes and narrative change. The associate should have an unwavering commitment to racial and social justice, and derive inspiration from the leadership of everyday people. This position reports to the Executive Director.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Draft press releases, op-eds, blogs and scripts for audio and videos with the goal of communicating stories that engage and build our audience.
    • Optimize our social media platforms to engage with and increase followers. Educate the public on issues important to southern New Mexico and drive them toward action in support of NM CAFe’s mission.
    • Deepen supporters sense of identity and involvement with CAFe, including online and on the ground engagement
    • Build and maintain media relationships, and lead advertising initiatives.
    • Work closely with on-the-ground organizers to build cohesive communications campaigns that integrate supporters across a range of online and offline engagement.
    • Interface with local, state, and national press organizations and provide rapid response to inquiries.
    • Meet with leaders of allied organizations to coordinate and collaborate on media strategy.
    • Monitor media, social media, and other community, local, regional, and national news for information that may be useful to the organization’s core mission
    • Understand and apply data analytics related to the campaign email list, website, and social channels to improve the effectiveness of campaigns.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor of Art in communications, journalism or related fields, with exceptional oral and written communication skills
    • 1-3 years of experience in communications, social media messaging, audio and video production, graphics, media relations or community outreach.
    • Experience with Google Analytics, WordPress, and advocacy platforms such as ActionNetwork
    • Proficiency in the strategic use of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and BlueSky
    • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
    • Writing/video/social samples
