    About PPMNY

Plant Powered Metro New York (PPMNY) empowers the region’s diverse local communities to achieve vibrant health and overcome chronic illness with whole food, plant-based nutrition. Ample evidence shows that plant-powered eating can prevent and even reverse many of today’s common chronic diseases. Founded in 2019, PPMNY offers evidence-based education, resources, and support to inspire meaningful change, improve health outcomes, and reduce health disparities throughout the New York metropolitan area.'

Mobilizing a community-driven movement, PPMNY stewards a grassroots network comprised of 200+ educators and volunteers hailing from NYC and its surrounding counties who collectively work to:

    • Raise awareness about the dramatic health benefits of eating a nutrient-rich diet of whole plant foods.
    • Educate diverse populations about the power and practice of whole food, plant-based nutrition, with a special focus on communities that experience health disparities, older adults, and healthcare system patients and employees.
    • Empower diverse residents to substantially improve their health using food as medicine.

    Fundraising Backdrop

As a dynamic organization in high demand, PPMNY has grown extensively in budget and scope thanks to a wide and passionate base of volunteers, educators, and supporters. Our million dollar budget in FY26 is diversified to an extent, with income from foundations, individuals, fee-for-service projects with organizations, and paid programs for community members. As we approach our seventh anniversary, we recognize the need to build a more robust development program to especially cultivate individuals and family foundations, and a more sustainable approach to fundraising that provides critical support to our Network Director and Board of Directors.

    • Updating donor records as contact is made, to track touches and contributions.
    • Beginning to steward a subset of up to 20 donors by actively keeping relationships warm and showing appreciation after a gift.
