    Position: Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy Associate

    Reports to: Director of Sexual and Reproductive Health

    Status: Full-time Exempt

    Start Date: December 2025

    Location: Largely remote with the ability to travel to occasional in-person meetings and

    attend in-person NHeLP and external meetings and conferences.

    THE ORGANIZATION

    The National Health Law Program (NHeLP) protects and advances the health rights of low-

    income and underserved individuals. NHeLP engages in national, state, and local advocacy

    efforts, including analyses of federal and state laws, policy advocacy, litigation, continuing legal

    education, and individual technical support. We work with lawyers and advocates, community-

    based entities, federal and state policymakers, researchers, health care providers, and clients.

    THE TEAM

    NHeLP’s Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Team works to build a future in which all people

    in the United States have equitable access to the full range of reproductive and sexual health

    services, free from discrimination. While not a reproductive justice organization, NHeLP

    approaches SRH work through that lens.

    THE POSITION

    We are hiring a full time, Policy Associate to provide crucial programmatic, policy, and

    administrative support to NHeLP’s Sexual and Reproductive Health team. The Policy Associate

    will support with monitoring and analyzing state policies affecting health insurance coverage of

    sexual and reproductive health services. They will also assist our attorneys and policy analysts

    with organizing and implementing SRH programming, including coalitions, advocacy clinics,

    convenings, and other events, and on administrative and operational aspects of our

    programmatic work. This is a newly created, remote role that will require limited travel.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Policy Functions (30%)

    • Develop and implement systems to track state legislation and administrative policy

    related to sexual and reproductive health care.

    • Assist SRH team with as-needed policy research, writing, document review, and other

    policy duties as assigned.

    • Participate in and take notes during SRH policy-related events, meetings, and webinars

    as assigned.

    • Occasionally represent the organization to external partners.

    Programmatic Functions (30%)

    • Assist SRH team with coalition work, including member engagement and drafting

    communications, surveys, and other deliverables.

    • Assist with organizing reproductive justice movement lawyering and advocacy clinics.
    • Track the SRH team’s technical assistance delivered to partners, relationships, and sign-

    on letters.

    • Research and assist with outreach to new advocacy partners.

    Administrative and Operational Functions (40%)

    • Support SRH team with scheduling, notes/readouts, and technical and logistical support

    for internal and external meetings, advocacy clinics, and webinars.

    • Plan virtual and in-person SRH-related conferences, convenings, and other events within

    a set budget;

    • Support SRH team with formatting and processing written products for final publication
    • Support SRH team in managing listservs and ensuring that materials are digitally

    archived appropriately.

    • Work closely with and liaise with the Mission Coordination Team, particularly operations

    and finance staff, to align administrative processes, event planning logistics, and

    organizational protocols.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A B.A. degree in a relevant area (e.g., policy, public health, health systems, gender

    studies, legal studies) with a strong academic record.

    • Prior experience effectively delivering daily administrative and/or operational support.
    • Interest in learning about relevant policy issues and organizational operations.
    • Discretion and ability to maintain the utmost standards of confidentiality.
    • Interested in Racial Equity. You are interested in expanding your analysis and

    knowledge about the role that racial inequity plays in our society, and are committed to

    building and/or deepening your commitment to racial justice work

    MUST-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently, with supervision, and as part of a team.
    • Commitment to sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in completing tasks.

    NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCES (optional)

    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Experience with policy monitoring and analysis.
    • Experience with daily program/project management functions within a remote working

    environment.

    • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with external partners.
    • Prior knowledge of and/or experience with sexual and reproductive health, public health,

    and/or policy.

    • Comfort leveraging technology, including experience with CRM databases (e.g. Asana),

    Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets,

    Slides), and/or a willingness to learn new web tools and computer programs as needed

    • Graphic design experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus

    COMPENSATION

    The compensation range for this position is between $60,910.00 and $64,718.00 annually.

    Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and aligned with internal equity.
