    The After Care Teacher is responsible for supervising and facilitating recreational, educational, and enrichment activities for students enrolled in Capital City’s after-school Eagle Care program. The After Care Teacher position is part-time according to a schedule provided by the Director of Out of School Time Programs. The After Care teacher reports to the After School Program Director. After School Teaching roles are 10-month positions, which are not exempt and therefore eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    Capital City is looking for talented teachers for our after school program, serving students in PK-6th grade. After School Teachers will work up to 20 hours per week according to the following schedule: 2:30-6:00 p.m. on M, T, Th, F; 12:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. There will also be an additional hour of planning time 1x per week.

    After Care Teacher responsibilities include:

    • Planning and leading activities for students in small and large groups during recreational and activity times.
    • Supervising and supporting students with homework completion.
    • Implementing a social curriculum and discipline approach consistent with the school day program (CCPCS uses the Responsive Classroom model).
    • Clear and professional communication with parents, teachers and school staff to ensure collaboration.
    • Attending and actively engaging in scheduled planning time.
    • Creating and maintaining a physically and emotionally safe environment for students. Communicating respectfully with students at all times. Modeling, practicing and discussing respectful, unbiased and effective communication with students.
    • Providing accommodations and support as needed to students with disabilities.
    • Maintaining an accurate and up to date record of daily student attendance using provided sign-in sheets and distributing snack to students at a regular time.
    • Maintaining shared classroom spaces and materials, work and storage areas, and equipment and materials. Including daily cleaning of table top surfaces and sweeping floors.
    • Leading and organizing outdoor activities to ensure safety.
    • Attending and actively engaging in scheduled professional development.
    • Each Group Leader partners with and guides an Assistant Group Leader to supervise one age group in classes with an average ratio of 1 adult:10 students. The position provides aspiring teachers with the opportunity to develop teaching and leadership skills while learning from experienced teachers. We seek to fill positions as soon as possible. Teachers will begin training upon the start date.

    Capital City seeks to employ experienced teachers.

    • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's Degree OR Associate’s Degree + 2000 hrs childcare experience

    Candidates should enjoy working with children, have strong classroom management skills, and be strong team players. Experience working in diverse and inclusive settings is desired.

    Spanish speakers are desired.

    In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check and a negative TB test.
