    Job Title:

    Senior Financial Analyst

    Who We Are:

FJC – A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds (FJC) is a boutique public charity that offers a diverse menu of philanthropic services to a range of stakeholders. With $450 million in assets under management, FJC is primarily a platform for Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). In addition to DAF accounts, its over 1,200 accounts include fiscal sponsorships, collective giving accounts, and many other philanthropic vehicles that enable nonprofit organizations and their supporters to achieve their missions. To date, over $750 million in grants and $400 million in loans have been made to charities around the globe. Part of our mission is to offer our account holders innovative and effective ways to maximize their giving and help them meet their philanthropic goals.

    Position:

The Senior Financial Analyst, reporting directly to the Controller and indirectly to the CFO/CIO, plays a key role within the Finance Department. This position is responsible for managing and analyzing financial and accounting activities related to investments, disbursements, budgeting, and broader financial planning. The analyst will support strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial insights and ensuring the integrity of financial data across core operational areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization focused on increasing philanthropic giving through the sponsorship of donor-advised funds (DAFs). Our donors contribute a wide range of assets—including cash, publicly traded securities, and occasionally complex or illiquid assets. These contributions are invested in a variety of financial products, aligned with our Board’s investment strategy. We also accommodate customized investment approaches, including participation in hedge funds and alternative investments, with the goal of growing the funds available to support nonprofit organizations.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be directly involved in supporting this dynamic investment environment. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage with complex investment structures, develop new processes to enhance transparency and performance tracking, and contribute to a highly collaborative team focused on maximizing impact in the philanthropic sector. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply strong analytical and accounting skills in a mission-oriented setting with room for professional growth and exposure to sophisticated financial strategies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the accounting and financial reporting for the full portfolio of investments of FJC, including recording and reconciling activity such as donated securities, market value adjustments, and fund transactions; overseeing daily pricing data feeds between FJC's investment management platform and our custodians: conducting financial analysis and research to support new alternative investment opportunities; and preparing and presenting quarterly performance analyses, rebalancing strategies, and net asset roll forwards to senior leadership
    • Support budgeting by preparing the monthly budget vs. actual and projection reports and drafting the annual operational budget.
    • Manage the accounts payable and disbursement processes, including ACH payments, vendor setup, invoice review, and account classification.
    • Support cash management by monitoring account balances and assisting the CFO/CIO with rebalancing recommendations.
    • Maintain key financial metrics and prepare recurring reports for grants, loans, contributions, and loan programs.
    • Assist with audit preparation, tax filings (including Form 990), and other compliance filings.
    • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis, manage authorized account access, and contribute to strategic financial oversight as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience in a similar financial analysis role; experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
    • Excellent client service and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, along with working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Outlook. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat for document management and editing is also expected. Experience with Salesforce, Netsuite or QuickBooks a plus.
    • Candidate must be a self-starter, organized, detail oriented, timely and efficient with strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to multitask, solve problems, set and meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a small team.

    Salary & Benefits:

Salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.

FJC offers a very generous benefits package including payment of nearly 100% of the health insurance premiums for employees (and spouses, domestic partners, and qualified family members). FJC also offers other benefits including life insurance, vision and dental, long-term disability protection, and a group 401(k) retirement plan (with an employer contribution).

    Application Process:

Qualified applicants should submit their cover letter and resume in pdf format to jobs@fjc.org

We kindly ask that you do not call the organization regarding this position. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States at the time of hire to be considered for this position. Candidates for this position shall be subject to a criminal background check before hiring is confirmed, and a credit report as may be allowed by law.

Note: FJC is based in NYC. We currently work remotely on Monday and Friday and in the office located at 225 West 39th Street on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All applicants must reside in the NYC region.
