    Position Overview

    The One Arroyo Foundation is seeking a mission-driven, strategic, and community-oriented Program Director to lead key initiatives that bring our mission to life.

    Our mission is to preserve, restore, and celebrate the Arroyo Seco, for the benefit of all, by fostering community, enhancing well-being, and conserving its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

    The Program Director will oversee One Arroyo’s volunteer program, coordinate membership events and engagement, manage community partnerships, and support internal operations. This role requires exceptional collaboration skills, especially in working with city staff, elected officials, and a wide range of community stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer Program Development & Coordination (30%)

    • Design and manage a comprehensive volunteer program aligned with the Foundation’s environmental and community goals.
    • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for hands-on restoration work, educational events, and public outreach.
    • Ensure proper safety protocols, track participation, and maintain strong volunteer communication.
    • Create recognition strategies that celebrate volunteer impact and deepen involvement.
    • Coordinate with City of Pasadena staff to develop an annual program of work and identify future community projects.

    Membership Program & Events (15%)

    • Plan and coordinate events and experiences for members that cultivate connection to the Arroyo Seco and grow organizational support.
    • Support outreach strategies to attract, retain, and steward members at various levels of engagement.
    • Collaborate on marketing, email campaigns, and storytelling that highlight member impact and benefits.

    Community & Partner Engagement (30%)

    • Serve as a liaison to schools, civic groups, nonprofits, and other Arroyo stakeholders.
    • Work closely with City of Pasadena staff and elected officials to support collaborative projects and align Foundation initiatives with public goals.
    • Represent the Foundation at public meetings, community events, and partner gatherings.
    • Contribute to messaging, talking points, and community-facing communications that advance the Foundation’s visibility and trust.

    Internal Administration & Program Management (20%)

    • Support annual planning, program budgeting, and goal-setting with the Executive Director.
    • Track and evaluate program data and outcomes to inform reporting and storytelling.
    • Maintain organized systems for volunteer and member engagement, event logistics, and partner communications.
    • Assist with grant documentation, board updates and coordination, and light fundraising or donor communications as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit program management, community engagement, public affairs, or volunteer/membership coordination.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage volunteer and/or membership programs from inception to evaluation.
    • Experience working collaboratively with city staff, elected officials, and cross-sector partners.
    • Outstanding communication, organizational, and project management skills.
    • Proficiency in Google Workspace; familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang) is a plus.
    • Self-starter with a passion for civic engagement, environmental conservation, and public space stewardship.

    Additional Information

    • Occasional evenings and weekends are required for events and community meetings.
    • Hybrid work environment; must be available for regular in-person events and meetings within Pasadena.
    • This is a full-time exempt position the successful candidate will work 40 hours per week in a flexible, asynchronous manner.
    • Valid driver’s license and access to transportation preferred.
