    Job Summary:

    The Instructor, Clean Tech Accelerator™ (CTA) is responsible for delivering hands-on, competency-based training to prepare participants for success in the clean technology industry. The instructor will foster a professional learning environment, provide clear instruction on technical skills and workplace expectations, and support trainees in developing the knowledge and capabilities necessary to excel in vocational pathways within the clean tech field.

    This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position at our school located in the Aurora, CO. Applicants must reside in Colorado and work from the Aurora facility.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Trainee Development:

    • Facilitate the completion of the trainee code of conduct and ensure understanding of CTA vocational expectations.
    • Promote professionalism and effective communication skills among trainees.
    • Lead team-building and individual activities to build essential soft skills, including punctuality, teamwork, and safe peer interactions.

    Program Delivery:

    • Conduct interactive sessions covering industry fundamentals, job expectations, and growth opportunities in the clean tech sector.
    • Guide participants through Foundations Week activities, ensuring commitment to full-day schedules and preparation for the next day’s agenda.
    • Deliver Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 and First Aid/CPR training, ensuring participants pass all required assessments.

    Technical Skills Instruction:

    • Teach the identification and proper use of hand tools (e.g., hammer, screwdriver, wrench) and power tools (e.g., power drill, circular saw).
    • Provide training on measuring techniques (e.g., using tape measures, converting measurements, calculating area and perimeter).
    • Lead practical exercises, such as constructing simple structures and drafting blueprints, ensuring participants meet safety and precision standards.
    • Instruct best practices for tool maintenance and safety, both in lab and outdoor environments.

    Safety and Professionalism:

    • Instill adherence to safety standards, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and site communication protocols.
    • Model and enforce professional behavior, including standards during breaks and teamwork scenarios.

    Assessment and Certification:

    • Evaluate trainee progress through practical assessments, written exams, and observations.
    • Ensure participants complete all program milestones, including earning the Certificate of Completion and passing the Construction Basics assessment with at least 80% proficiency.

    Industry Engagement:

    • Discuss industry networking opportunities and pathways to employment in clean tech with trainees.
    • Prepare participants for successful integration into the workforce by emphasizing professional expectations and vocational training benefits.
    • Work closely with industry partners to facilitate student placement.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Education:

    • A High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate or Bachelor degree in a relevant field (e.g., Construction Management, Clean Technology, Education, Workforce Development, or a related discipline) is preferred.
    • Additional clean tech or construction-related certifications (e.g., NCCER Certification, Certified Clean Energy Professional) is preferred.
    • Certification in OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
    • First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Experience:

    • Experience in teaching, vocational training, or workforce development programs, preferably in the clean tech or construction industries.
    • Proficiency in using and teaching proper use of hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
    • Knowledge of clean tech industry trends and vocational pathways is preferred.
    • Familiarity with blueprint reading and drafting is preferred.
    • Experience with instructional design and competency-based training models is preferred.

    • Physical ability to demonstrate and perform tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting materials, and working in a lab or outdoor environment.
    • Communication Skills: Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world. Must have the ability to network with community partners and speak to large audiences. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
    • Presentation Skills: Ability to engage and inspire adult learners with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Proven track record of fostering teamwork and professionalism in a learning environment.
    • Organizational Aptitude: Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through.
    • Physical Ability: Able to perform and demonstrate tasks such as climbing ladders, using tools, and wearing PPE.
    • Adaptability: Maintains effectiveness when experiencing shifts in priorities; adjusts effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment.
    • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.
    • Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:
    • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
    • 25 – 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
    • 21 years of age for CDL.

    Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
