The Avila Institute of Gerontology is an educational source for Long-Term Care Professionals, Religious Communities, and Families to best provide compassionate care to their beloved elderly. Serving the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm as their educational arm, we have been providing education to caregivers for over 30 years.
We are seeking to hire a Development Director.
- $70K to $85K annually based on skills and experience.
- Full-time schedule.
- This is a remote role with monthly travel to Avila Institute Offices in Germantown, NY, and consistent travel as needed to meet with potential donors.
Development Director Introduction: The Development Director leads and advances all fundraising efforts by creating and executing a comprehensive, results-oriented development strategy that secures the financial resources needed to deliver high-quality education, strengthen the Homes, and support the broader mission of the Avila Institute.
Development Director Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing nonprofit fundraising programs that result in major gifts, annual giving, donor cultivation, and stewardship.
- Experience writing grants.
- Strong understanding of Catholic identity, values, and ministry, with the ability to communicate the mission of the Avila Institute in a way that is invitational, respectful, and pastorally attuned.
- Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple initiatives, deadlines, and donor portfolios simultaneously.
- Proficiency in donor database management and fundraising software.
Development Director Job Summary:
- Manage all aspects of development operations, including major gifts, annual giving, grants, donor stewardship, and strategic campaigns.
- Build strong, authentic relationships with donors, foundations, and partners, communicating the Institute’s Catholic identity and mission with clarity, integrity, and pastoral sensitivity.
- Ensure that fundraising initiatives align with organizational priorities and that revenue goals are consistently met or exceeded to support long-term sustainability and growth.
