    Descripción

    Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate is an essential member of a donor engagement team working to create an outstanding experience for members of the Society of the Cincinnati and supporters of the American Revolution Institute. The incumbent is responsible for data entry, producing timely, accurate and thoughtful acknowledgments and receipts, as well as assisting with donor stewardship communications and activities. This position is located at Anderson House in Washington, D.C.

    Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks

    Gift Management & Donor Stewardship (80%):

    • Receive, record, allocate and process gifts and pledges received;
    • Process and distribute all acknowledgements, donor letters, standard gift receipts and pledge reminders;
    • Manage routine data entry and data management and conduct data entry related tasks;
    • Track stock gifts, wire transfers and automated giving as needed;
    • Coordinate development mailings and maintain inventory of development materials;
    • Coordinate mailings and mailing lists for development and organizational mailings;
    • Produce data reports for publications;
    • Respond to donor inquiries through email and phone call;
    • Respond to matching gift requests and complete processing of matching gift forms;
    • Work with the Development Team to ensure data integrity and quality; and
    • Maintain working knowledge of Society of the Cincinnati and American Revolution Institute programs and activities.

    Event Support (10%):

    • Assist with development and organizational event registrations and payments;
    • Print nametags, place cards, escort cards and other materials for events; and
    • Assist in preparing and mailing formal invitations for events.

    Administrative Support (10%):

    • Monitor and manage incoming email to general department inboxes; and
    • Provide general administrative support for the department, as needed.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Experience working with data in CRM databases, such as Salesforce, Tessitura, EveryAction or Raiser's Edge; knowledge of data structure, hygiene and maintenance. Strong preference for experience using Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT;
    • General knowledge of the principles and practices of nonprofit fundraising and advancement operations, gift administration, database administration and records management;
    • General understanding of the use of automated business and systems tools needed to support the efficient management of development operations preferred;
    • Utilize strong critical thinking and diplomacy skills to actively support various fundraising initiatives, demonstrate good judgment and handle confidential information;
    • Organized and detail oriented, can effectively meet tight schedules and adjust to changes in work priorities;
    • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, within a team environment and with diverse internal and donor constituencies in a fast-paced environment; and
    • Demonstrated high proficiency using Microsoft Excel.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • 2-3 years of experience in a development office desired.
    • Experience working with clients/member services or providing high-level customer service experience, especially at a smaller nonprofit or office.

    Compensación

    The Society of the Cincinnati provides health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. After one year of employment, employees are eligible for employer-only contributions to an employer-sponsored 401(k) plan. A Metrorail monthly stipend is provided to employees who use public transportation. The Society offers a leave package that includes: 10 vacation days (pro-rated in the first year of employment), 12 sick days, 13 paid holidays, and 1 flex holiday.
