About Camp Jamison
Camp Jamison is a joyful overnight summer camp grounded in peacebuilding, community, and nature. For 15 summers, we've served primarily Black and Brown youth from Philadelphia, ages 8–15. We offer an inclusive, outdoor experience focused on leadership development, friendship, and fun. Our diverse, mission-driven staff—many of whom were once campers—create the space we wish more kids had access to.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a licensed Camp Nurse to join us during Session A: July 28 – August 3, 2025. This role is primarily daytime, but you can stay overnight with us.
As the Camp Nurse, you’ll oversee the health and wellness of campers and staff, administer medications, respond to injuries or illnesses, and ensure we meet all New York State Department of Health regulations. You’ll play a crucial role in keeping our community safe and supported throughout the week.
What You'll Do
- Be present during daytime hours (roughly 8am–5pm; flexible as needed)
- Stay overnight on-site (if desired)—private lodging and all meals provided
- Administer medications and maintain NYS-compliant records
- Treat minor illnesses and injuries and refer for emergency care if needed
- Support a safe, calm, welcoming health center
- Collaborate with camp leadership and follow all Orange County DOH protocols
Who We’re Looking For
Required (per Orange County DOH):
- Valid New York State license as one of the following:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Physician (MD or DO)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience with youth in camps, schools, or pediatric settings preferred
- Excellent communicator, calm under pressure, and values equity and joy
- Must pass a background check and meet all NYS camp health requirements
Compensation & Perks
- $1,500 stipend for one week
- Lodging and all meals included
