POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager, Small Chapter Programming will manage and oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of AFSP-approved programs across multiple Small Chapters, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and culturally responsive program delivery. This role serves as an operational partner to the Director of Small Chapter Development and chapter volunteer leadership, providing guidance, coordination, and programmatic support across multiple markets. The position is fully remote with limited, occasional travel and requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, manage, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of AFSP-approved prevention, education, loss and healing, and research connection programs (virtual and in-person) across assigned Small Chapters. Serve as the primary programmatic point of contact for multiple Small Chapters, ensuring program offerings align with AFSP standards, strategic priorities, and community needs.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to chapter program committees and program-related volunteers, supporting readiness, scheduling, logistics, and high-quality program delivery. Recruit, onboard, train, and support volunteer program facilitators in collaboration with the Director of Small Chapter Development.
- Respond to program inquiries and direct requests for presentations to appropriate volunteer facilitators.
- Ensure program information is available at small chapter activities and events.
- Oversee tracking of program-related expenses and ensure timely submission of invoices and reimbursements in accordance with national and chapter procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors, municipalities, venues, and community partners related to program delivery.
- Provide programmatic content, impact language, and metrics for sponsorship materials, grant applications, and chapter communications.
- Participate in and support program-related meetings, committees, and training; ensure documentation, action-item tracking, and follow-through.
- Utilize bilingual skills to support Spanish-speaking volunteers, partners, and communities through professional written and verbal communication.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteer leadership to ensure program offerings are consistent with AFSP guidelines and strategic goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: N/A
Experience and/or Training:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in nonprofit program coordination, community outreach, volunteer management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with volunteers and community partners.
Language Requirement: Fluency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing, and verbal communication, is required.
Technology/Equipment
- Experience using general office technology and ability to utilize and learn multiple platforms to work remotely and present virtually.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience and/or Training
- 4-5 years of experience in nonprofit program coordination or community outreach.
- Experience working within a national nonprofit organization with a chapter or affiliate model.
- Experience supporting or managing programs across multiple geographic markets.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accountability.
- Comfortable presenting AFSP programs to public audiences and collaborating with volunteer presenters.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple chapters, priorities, and timelines simultaneously.

- Ability to work a full-time schedule with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate volunteer availability and time zones.
