Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) was founded on the simple idea that no one deserves to be hurt. Over the past 48 years, we have built the strongest team of clinicians, attorneys, legal advocates, preventionists and volunteers around. We are available from the moments after someone has been hurt, all the way through the culmination of that survivor's healing process. We work with survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, childhood sexual abuse, human trafficking, community violence and homicide. We work to change culture to prevent violence from happening in the first place. We provide legal support and holistic forms of therapy. Everything we do is free.

Our Clinical Program

CVTC provides a wide range of healing services to any survivor of interpersonal violence. Our renowned clinical team is composed of expert therapists who support survivors of violence through individual, trauma-focused therapy. In most cases, clients are seen weekly for a period of six to 18 months, depending on the history of trauma that brings them to CVTC. Our program prioritizes individuals who are not able to pay for services like the ones we offer and thus works to minimize barriers that exist between underserved client populations and the care they deserve. In addition to individual therapy, the clinical team offers an extensive range of group therapy options that include psychoeducation groups, relational and experiential trauma processing groups, DBT skills-building groups and many more. The program serves over 1,300 individuals annually.

The Role

The ideal candidate for this position is a gifted clinician who has a demonstrated background in serving survivors of trauma and interpersonal violence. They will be flexible, dedicated and innovative. This position includes a particular focus on serving male-identified survivors of violence, the majority of whom have experienced sexual abuse during childhood. CVTC is home to the first male-identified survivor program in NYC to receive designated funding.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individual trauma-focused therapy to adult survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, gun violence and other forms of interpersonal violence
• Facilitate psychoeducation and process oriented therapy groups for survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence
• Conduct intake assessments for services, compose psychosocial evaluations and present new client cases at weekly staff meetings
• Advocate on behalf of clients with criminal justice agencies, immigration agencies, etc.
• Conduct presentations to service providers on trauma-focused therapy and crisis counseling with male survivors of sexual violence
• Assist in the development of intervention, prevention, and outreach programs tailored for male survivors of interpersonal violence, specifically childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive client service records and provide clients with referrals as appropriate

Clinical Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following Clinical Skills & Competencies:

• Well established clinical skills in providing individual trauma-focused therapy
• Experience facilitating group work
• Experience in conducting psychosocial assessment for services
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize administrative tasks
• Possess high emotional intelligence, compassion and empathy
• Ability to work independently and appropriately seek support from supervisor and team members
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team on shared client issues
• Excellent attention to detail along with strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills including working knowledge of email and MS Word
• Spanish-speaking preferred

Qualifications & Requirements

• New York State Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Mental Health Counselor, Limited Permit
• Demonstrated commitment to work with survivors of interpersonal violence

in trauma-focused therapy and specifically with male survivors

• Ability to commute to and work from office location (hybrid schedule; minimum of three days in office)
• Some evening hours required
• Completion of CVTC’s 40-hour NYS DOH Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Volunteer Advocate Training in October 2025
