    Introduction:

    The mission of the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) is to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation. PHAB is the accrediting body for Tribal, state, local, and territorial governmental public health departments and the U.S. Accreditation provides a means for a public health department to identify performance improvement opportunities, to improve management, develop leadership, and improve relationships with members of the community.

    Position Summary:

    The Senior Advisor to the President and CEO provides high-level support to ensure the effective execution of activities critical to advancing PHAB’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives. This role is a trusted partner to the President and CEO, helping to manage organizational workflow, track priorities, prepare for internal and external engagements, support the Board of Directors’ governance role, and ensure alignment across teams to support PHAB’s mission and strategic objectives.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Support the President and CEO in identifying and responding to bottlenecks and risks and synthesize complex issues into clear recommendations.
    • Prepare for and staff President and CEO for speaking engagements, including drafting of talking points/speeches; engaging with organizers to develop content; supporting on-site needs, and coordinating with PHAB staff.
    • Refine and maintain internal communication processes, systems, and norms to ensure effective implementation of PHAB’s strategic plan.
    • Support the President and CEO in engaging with potential new clients, customers, and Includes assuring proper agendas are developed and shared in advance and follow-up items completed in a timely manner.
    • Assists in initial development of partnership proposals or presentations, assuring projects are appropriately integrated into PHAB operational areas.
    • Support the President and CEO in engaging with and supporting the Board of Directors, including assuring timely preparation for Board meetings, leveraging expertise and skillsets of Board members, initial drafting, detailed editing, and review of presentations, reports, and other documents.
    • Support the President and CEO in assuring effective implementation of strategic plan and coordination across Responsibilities include assuring alignment across teams in preparing for internal meetings, supporting integration and collaboration across various initiatives, and preparing the President and CEO with the information needed to enable effective decision- making and achievement of PHAB’s goals.
    • Represent the President and CEO as requested in meetings and debrief appropriately.
    • Assure President and CEO’s meetings and calendar structure are aligned with strategic priorities and needs of the organization. Secondary back-up to support President and CEO calendar and administrative needs, in coordination with the Executive Assistant.
    • Support other duties as needed at the direction of the President and CEO.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Advanced Degree in business, communications, public health, public policy, administration, or related field is required.
    • Minimum of seven years of work experience required, preferably with direct interaction with and support of senior executives. Preference will be given to those who have worked in a public health, health care, or social services role.
    • Superior written and verbal communications skills as shown by a clear record of accomplishments in professional writing and drafting and/or delivery of presentations or reports.
    • Superior skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
    • Astute attention to detail and ability to edit and format documents with minimal direction or oversight.
    • Skilled at identifying and executing meeting follow-up actions in a timely manner.
    • Excellent knowledge of and ability to engage across multiple social media channels.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer-service, and organization skills.
    • Demonstrated skills and experience with project management preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external partners and/or stakeholders to develop common approaches to address complex issues in public health, social services, or health care.
    • Excellent ability to work with and support small working groups of professionals.
    • Ability to work independently and be self-directed and self-motivated.
    • Excellent ability to handle multiple projects and organize materials and people to achieve outcomes within tight timelines.
    • Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for alignment and efficiency.
    • Demonstrated experience collaborating with peers in a team-oriented.
    • Ability to travel.

    DISTRIBUTED EMPLOYER ENVIRONMENT: The Public Health Accreditation Board’s staff currently work in a remote office environment. Employees working from home must agree to maintain a professional working environment with a dedicated workspace, including high-speed internet access. All staff are required to participate in in-person staff meetings that currently occur on a semi-annual basis for up to 5 consecutive days. These in-person staff meetings may be increased to a quarterly basis, as determined by management. Travel and related expenses for these meetings will be paid for by the employer.

    VACCINATION: PHAB recommends but does not require its staff, volunteers, interns, fellows, assignees, and meeting attendees be up to date with an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccination series, including boosters. Other risk-mitigation measures, such as wearing masks in our offices or in meeting settings, are also optional.
