    The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to promote high-quality early learning for each and every child, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research.

    NAEYC is seeking a Digital Communications Manager to lead and execute our digital strategy. This role plays a critical part in shaping how we communicate our mission online, promoting high-quality early learning and elevating the early childhood education profession. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, skilled content creator, and data-driven communicator who can manage multiple digital platforms while navigating a complex political and cultural environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communications strategy in collaboration with the communications leadership team.
    • Ensure all digital content aligns with NAEYC's mission, values, and strategic goals.
    • Manage day-to-day operations of social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement.
    • Create and manage a cross-functional content calendar.
    • Maintain the online newsroom with timely press materials and media kits.
    • Produce compelling content tailored to each platform.
    • Collaborate across departments to ensure cohesive messaging and campaigns.
    • Maintain digital style guides and templates for consistent branding.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics across digital platforms.
    • Use data to refine content strategies and inform leadership.
    • Partner with internal teams and leadership to integrate digital content into broader organizational campaigns.
    • Build relationships with digital influencers and partner organizations to expand NAEYC's reach.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support department and organizational goals.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience in digital communications, ideally in the nonprofit or education sector.
    • Demonstrated success developing and executing effective digital strategies.
    • Proficiency with digital tools (Google Analytics, WordPress, social media platforms).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to diverse audiences.
    • Experience in early childhood education or related policy/advocacy work.
    • Ability to translate complex research and data into accessible, engaging content.

    Physical Demands:

For example, walking and moving throughout a building, handling materials and objects, and communicating freely writing, speaking, listening.     Position Designation(s): Hybrid: This role is based in the DC Metro Region and is required to physically be on-site in the DC office one day a week due to the needs of the position. Employees are expected to be in the office on Thursday's unless otherwise determined by immediate supervisor and department leadership.
