    Descripción

    Preferred Start Date: March-April 2026

    Location: Saugerties, New York

    Organization Background

Spiral House Park, located in the Hudson Valley between the towns of Woodstock, New York and Saugerties, New York, is a nonprofit organization at the intersection of care for the environment and the enjoyment of the arts. This 45-acre property, developed by Patty Livingston and the late artist Tom Gottsleben, is home to Gottsleben’s stone and crystal glass sculpture, as well as a house that spirals five stories to form a bluestone nautilus with views of the Catskill Mountains. The grounds include extensive native and traditional ornamental gardens and trails that wind through woodlands and abandoned stone quarries.

Our mission is to steward the property for public access while creating programming that celebrates art, nature, and their power to transform the way we see and care for the world.

    Position Summary

As Spiral House Park approaches its first full public season, we are seeking a new team member to build on months of strategic program planning and help implement our seasonal calendar of workshops, events, and tours. This is an opportunity to help shape the first public season of a new cultural and environmental nonprofit in a remarkable Hudson Valley landscape.

The Program & Events Manager role is expected to require approximately 20 hours per week, with a combination of remote planning and on-site presence required for programs, events, and seasonal activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both creative program development and the practical logistics required to produce thoughtful public events in a unique outdoor setting.

    Location

This position will be based primarily on site at Spiral House Park in Saugerties, New York, with some flexibility for remote work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Planning & Development

    • Plan and coordinate the seasonal schedule of public programs, arts- and nature-based educational workshops, a science lecture series, and special events in collaboration with the Executive Director, garden team, artists, facilitators, educators, and external partners
    • Develop program concepts aligned with Spiral House Park’s mission and public engagement goals
    • Draft program descriptions and schedules for use in communications and marketing materials in coordination with Communications team

    Event Production & On-Site Management

    • Manage on-site logistics for public programs and special events
    • Prepare event timelines and run-of-show documents
    • Coordinate setup, materials, equipment, and site logistics for programs and gatherings
    • Coordinate staff, volunteers, facilitators/speakers, artists/musicians, and food and beverage vendors when applicable

    Program Administration

    • Manage program calendars and scheduling
    • Oversee event registration and ticketing systems
    • Track attendance and maintain program participation records
    • Ensure required waivers, permissions, or documentation are collected when needed
    • Set up contracts with facilitators, speakers, and performers

    Communications & Outreach Coordination

    • Provide timely program information and updates for the website, newsletters, and promotional materials
    • Coordinate with Communications team on promotional timelines and event listings
    • Assist in the development of marketing materials for programs and events

    Partnerships & Community Engagement

    • Support relationships with local partners, artists, educators, and community organizations
    • Assist with outreach to potential collaborators for programs and events
    • Serve as an on-site representative of Spiral House Park during public programming

    Documentation & Evaluation

    • Support documentation of programs and events in coordination with staff
    • Gather participant or facilitator feedback when appropriate
    • Assist with internal summaries or seasonal reporting on program outcomes

The Program & Events Manager will participate in periodic coordination meetings with staff and partners as reasonably necessary. This includes a regular team meeting currently scheduled on Wednesdays from 2-3 pm.

An occasional evening and some weekend work is required to support programs and events.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of three years of program management experience, ideally within a nonprofit organization
    • Teaching or educational experience is a plus
    • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
