The Director of Finance is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization. This position demands adept financial management, strategic thinking, strong interpersonal abilities, and a steadfast dedication to the organization's mission and values.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary of $80,000.

About the Organization:

WREN is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization building a movement to advance the health, economic well-being, and rights of women, girls, gender-expansive individuals, and their families in South Carolina. WREN engages and influences diverse audiences – including our 40,000+ member database, hundreds of nonprofit partners, elected officials, business leaders, donors, and the general public.

About the Ideal Candidate:

• B.A. in accounting, finance, or related field, ideally with a CPA or related degree. 

• 3 years of financial experience required, including nonprofit experience. 

• Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit finance and accounting rules.

• Proficiency in financial software and systems, with experience implementing and/or managing accounting software.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

• Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.

• Understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and practices and knowledge of FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) specifically not-for-profit regulations.

• Ability to explain financial matters and concepts in clear, accessible language, facilitating understanding for colleagues outside the finance realm.

• The ability to effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising teams, regardless of their finance expertise, is essential to ensure alignment and mutual success in achieving the organizational goals. 

• Capable of maintaining adherence to budgets while acknowledging the potential for shifting priorities

• Knowledge of accounting and donor database software – QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Raiser’s Edge is a plus. 

• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making. 

• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 

• Ability to deliver a transparent financial infrastructure from budgeting to reporting and compliance. 

• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. 

• Discretion with sensitive information. 

• Cultural competency when working with a diverse staff. Ability to collaborate with a high functioning, multi-racial workforce. 

• Commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion; willingness to work alongside colleagues to build an anti-white supremacy organizational culture. 

• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the WREN.
