    Descripción

Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP) is looking for a high-performing self-starter to serve as Manager, Volunteerism & Engagement. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity for an individual seeking exciting professional growth at an entrepreneurial and thriving national nonprofit, based in downtown Washington, D.C., with partial telework available.

FFP’s mission is to help people in need improve their financial lives by expanding access to expert financial guidance and planning. We advance our mission in part by recruiting, training, and matching CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals to pro bono financial planning opportunities at nonprofits nationwide. FFP focuses specifically on engaging CFP® professionals in pro bono activities, as the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification is considered the standard for financial planning and advice due to rigorous education, training, and ethical requirements. CFP® professionals must act as fiduciaries to all clients, whether paid or pro bono.

Working within FFP’s Programs team, the Manager, Volunteerism & Engagement will lead efforts to engage and support the thousands of CFP® professionals we work with, including those employed by our major institutional partners: financial advisory firms, major companies, and professional associations.

This role will provide leadership across partner outreach, volunteer program design and technical assistance, recruitment and tracking, and the development of volunteer training and resources, also helping drive the work of FFP’s upcoming Pro Bono Ambassadors Group, a select cohort of industry leaders championing pro bono service across the financial advisory profession.

This is a fantastic position for someone who is motivated by inspiring others, thrives in a collaborative and innovative environment, and enjoys both planning and hands-on execution. The salary and benefits are competitive, and the ideal candidate can start as soon as possible.

About the Foundation for Financial Planning

Foundation for Financial Planning (FFP) is the nation’s leading charity dedicated to advancing pro bono financial planning for at-risk populations, including active military members and wounded veterans, people with cancer and other serious illness, seniors and family caregivers, low-income individuals and families, domestic violence survivors and many more. Over its 30 years, FFP has provided almost $10 million in grants to national and community-based pro bono programs; worked with partners to activate more than 30,000 financial planners to volunteer their time and talents; reached over 765,000 people in crisis or need; and acted as a leader and catalyst to foster a rich tradition of pro bono service across the financial planning profession.

Through our volunteer platform, ProBonoPlannerMatch.Org, FFP connects CFP® professionals nationwide with high-quality pro bono opportunities, making it easier than ever for families in need to access free, objective financial advice.

    Essential Responsibilities

    VOLUNTEERISM & ENGAGEMENT:

    • Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Grants & Programs to recruit CFP® professionals through ProBonoPlannerMatch.Org, leveraging FFP’s extensive industry network.
    • Serve as a key liaison to corporate, association, and nonprofit partners, coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement and ensuring meaningful volunteer experiences.
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage various groups of CFP® professionals as volunteers such as “NextGen” (i.e. those newer to the profession) and “Emeritus” (i.e., those close to or in retirement).
    • Identify gaps in training and resources; develop and refine content that meets the needs of CFP® professional volunteers, including FFP’s skills- building webinar series.
    • Support technology initiatives that enhance pro bono delivery and volunteer engagement.
    • Lead volunteer data collection, integration and analysis using FFP’s CRM and related systems.

    MEETINGS & OUTREACH:

    • Represent FFP at industry events and lead in the planning and coordination of panels and speaking engagements that showcase the power of pro bono volunteerism.
    • Coordinate and staff strategic meetings with key stakeholders, developing materials such as agendas and presentations, and delivering both virtual and in-person volunteer trainings.
    • Support the development of volunteer-related content—testimonials, quote cards, video segments—that elevate the visibility of pro bono experiences.
    • Contribute to research studies and surveys related to pro bono volunteerism.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Completion of a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
    • Experience within the nonprofit sector or a social impact role at a for-profit is a plus; knowledge of the financial planning field also helpful but not required.
    • Proven success partnering with organizations to achieve shared goals; experience recruiting and engaging volunteers strongly preferred.
    • High-energy, proactive individual who thrives on a small, collaborative, innovative team. Sense of humor mandatory!
    • Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation and interpersonal communications skills; comfortable reaching out to partners and helping match volunteers to emerging opportunities.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
