    About Friendship House: Friendship House, a nonprofit organization in Wilmington, Delaware, has been serving the Delaware community for over 35 years, with the Clothing Bank playing a significant role in its mission to support those facing homelessness and housing insecurity. Friendship House (FH) Clothing Bank fulfills three primary missions: (1) distribute high quality donated clothing to people in need; (2) provide entry level employment and training to women trying to make a positive change in their life and career; (3) create a broad spectrum of volunteer opportunities for the community. The Clothing Bank is a woman-centered environment that supports and nurtures and takes into consideration issues which typically affect women.

    Job Description: The School Apparel Program Coordinator will oversee operations of the Friendship House School Uniform and Shoe Bank programs aimed at supporting underserved individuals and students in Delaware. Located at the Clothing Bank Warehouse, this role encompasses inventory management, community outreach, partnership development, volunteer coordination, and reporting.

    The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and communication skills, a passion for equity and service, and the ability to lead day-to-day logistics and promote long-term program growth.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Program & Inventory Management:

    • Oversee the collection, sorting, storage, and distribution of donated clothing, uniforms, and shoes
    • Oversee school apparel inventory to maintain reasonable and required levels
    • Ensure accurate inventory tracking and uphold quality standards for distributed items
    • Coordinate intake and fulfillment logistics for both gently used and new donations

    Facilities Management:

    • Ensure the opening and closing of the facility is consistent and timely
    • Assist with ensuring the facility, cargo van, and equipment are well maintained, safe, and in compliance with codes and regulations
    • Ensure the facility is kept clean and organized
    • Ensure you and others abide by safety regulations in the warehouse

    Community Engagement & Partnership Building:

    • Foster and manage relationships with local schools, nonprofits, donors, and community groups
    • Plan and execute clothing and shoe drives in collaboration with stakeholders
    • Organize and lead volunteer events for donation sorting and packing
    • Promote the programs’ mission and services to raise visibility and impact

    Reporting & Evaluation:

    • Track and report key performance indicators (e.g., number of items distributed, schools served, volunteer hours)
    • Evaluate program outcomes, identify improvement areas, and adapt strategies accordingly
    • Maintain organized documentation of inventory, donations, and school/community needs

    Required Experience/Skills:

    • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
    • Experience managing volunteers and/or small teams
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Commitment to equity, education, and supporting underserved populations
    • Familiarity with inventory systems, Google Workspace, Excel, and/or CRM platforms
    • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment, including non-temperature-controlled areas, prolonged standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a cargo van as needed

    Nice-to-Haves: The following skills and experience are of significant benefit:

    • Experience in nonprofit program coordination, especially clothing/donation banks
    • Knowledge of Delaware public/charter school systems
