Leading the Change in Youth Development

At Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, we are taking youth programming to a new level. We are a leader in youth development, providing a safe, affordable place for kids and teens during critical out-of-school time. Our Clubs offer life-changing programs and services to youth throughout the greater Seattle area.

As one of the largest Boys & Girls Club organization in the United States, we have a rich history serving King County youth. If you are passionate about youth development, committed to social justice, love to connect with people, have a proven track record of results with youth, and want to be part of an extraordinary team, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County is for you!

Opportunity Overview: Philanthropy Officer (Major Gifts)

Boys & Girls Clubs of King County is seeking a Philanthropy Officer to help fuel life-changing opportunities for young people across our region.

Working closely with the VP of Philanthropy, this role will cultivate, solicit, and steward a dynamic portfolio of 100–150 donors and prospects, primarily focused on individuals investing $5,000 - $50,000 annually, and larger multi-year gifts. The Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in strengthening long-term relationships, increasing major giving, and building a strong pipeline of supporters.

This position is ideal for a relationship-driven fundraiser who is ready to deepen their impact at higher levels of giving and grow within a collaborative, mission-centered team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Take an active role in identifying and advancing new ideas, approaches, and opportunities to grow giving across individual portfolios and broader fundraising initiatives.
    • Monitor portfolio performance, being aware of revenue targets, and adjust strategy to meet any challenges.
    • Within your portfolio, develop and execute individualized engagement plans for each donor, considering their philanthropic interests, with clear next steps that lead to increased retention, upgrades, and long-term investment. This includes weekly qualification to stewardship phone calls, virtual meetings, and in-person qualification visits.
    • Grow the donor community through activities that focus on the re-engagement of lapsed donors and cultivation of prospective donors
    • Maintain excellence in communication, including fast response times to calls, messages, gifts, face-to-face opportunities, and follow-ups.
    • Support donor events - informed by your portfolio knowledge and relationships and prospect practice
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date portfolio plans, tracking activity, strategy, and progress to ensure forward movement toward revenue goals, including consistent use of the CRM database (Raiser’s Edge).
    • Actively manage portfolio composition, recommending upgrades, transitions, and reassignments to ensure donors are engaged at the right level and positioned for growth.
    • Partner with program staff to create compelling opportunities for donor connection to youth impact.
    • Be part of defining and reaching individual giving targets, including non-financial data points, that help drive excellent performance
    • Be an exemplary team player, working in partnership across Resource Development and Club Operations to bring the best results for Club youth.

    QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • 5+ years of development experience with face-to-face donor solicitation and knowledge of fundraising techniques.
    • Dedication to achieving equitable youth development outcomes, including the mission of King County Boys & Girls Clubs.
    • Commitment to racial equity and social justice.
    • Demonstrated experience of progressively successful results in a resource development role.
    • Complete a set number of weekly impact contacts with donors (preferably by phone or face-to-face) per week and produce informative, concise contact reports for each contact.
    • Outstanding listening skills and the desire to hear people’s stories.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire donors through verbal and written communication.
    • Proven track record of implementing high-quality and high-impact donor stewardship.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
    • Ability to work directly and joyfully with volunteers; providing the necessary coaching, strategic direction, and tactical support they need to be successful with fundraising.
    • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines and achieve benchmarks on time.
    • Strong data management habits; ability to track progress and report results with accuracy in fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).

We know that not all skills are learned in a traditional office setting. If you have equivalent experience or transferable skills, we encourage you to apply.
