HEET is a nonprofit organization with a mission to transform the thermal energy system to meet the needs of the future. We believe in an energy system that meets the needs of all, from low-income communities to gas utilities workers to future generations. To accomplish this, we build collaborative networks based on trust, bring uncommon partners together to find common ground, and iterate to find solutions supported by science.

    Job Description

The Fellow will support HEET’s work for 20 hrs per week in a variety of initiatives locally and nationally, informed by the individual’s experience and interest as well as by the changing policy landscape. This may include the following:

    • Massachusetts: Coordinating the hosting and documentation of HEET’s monthly Geothermal Industry Open Houses.
    • Massachusetts: Assisting in the development of the Thermal Commons concept to establish a legal basis for shared ownership of distributed thermal energy resources such as the heat in Boston harbor.
    • National: Monitoring legislation and regulation in 15+ states, as well as federally, while succinctly summarizing for awareness within the team and to inform HEET’s policy strategy.
    • National: Supporting HEET’s Regulator Forum by networking with attendees and identifying and facilitating crucial discussion points.
    • National: Supporting HEET’s collaboration with CESA (Clean Energy State’s Alliance) for a new state energy office Working Group.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong reading and writing skills
    • Eligibility to work in the US and ability to work in-person in the Boston area

Location: HEET is a hybrid work environment. Weekly in-person team days at our Boston office are required and additional in-person work during the week may be expected. This is a short-term and part-time position, 20 hours per week.

    Pay: $25/hour

To apply: Please provide a thoughtful cover letter and resume to careers@heet.org. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
