    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    The Director of Community Strategy will build the external and internal organizational infrastructure of the newly formed Community Strategy Team. The work is needed to implement the common agenda of a collective impact effort for Hunting Park, Nicetown and East Tioga, led by the Broad, Germantown, and Erie Collaborative (BGEC). Key responsibilities include building and nurturing critical relationships, establishing internal operating systems and providing administrative support, while simultaneously overseeing multiple projects. The overarching responsibility of this role is to facilitate collaboration to achieve community revitalization, building on the existing foundation and establishing new approaches and directions. The person in this role will be expected to aggressively pursue strategies and identify new opportunities to broaden BGEC’s funding base, increase resident engagement, create long-range goals and plans, increase public understanding and visibility of BGEC’s shared mission and programs, along with strengthening the collaborative’s infrastructure.

    The Director of Community Strategy will provide leadership while overseeing the strategic, programmatic, financial, and management operations for this vital initiative, expanding our collective impact and allowing us to better serve neighborhood residents. This member of the leadership team will play a crucial role in fostering strong relationships, building public goodwill, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

    • Participate in setting annual and quarterly goals aligned to the strategic plan.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between BGEC and Purpose-Built Communities, a national leader in strengthening neighborhoods to open pathways to prosperity and opportunity for all.
    • Facilitate activities to enhance equity throughout BGEC’s initiatives.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree, and/or equivalent experience in public administration, social work, urban planning, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in workforce development, community services, or neighborhood revitalization with demonstrated success in managing complex programs and teams.
    • Strong leadership skills, with experience in supervising staff and overseeing the implementation of programs aimed at economically disadvantaged communities.
    • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with external partners, manage relationships, and deliver impactful community programs.
    • Experience working in urban communities, with a deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural challenges facing residents.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Comfort and experience in having race and equity related conversations with various groups of individuals.
    • Keen interest in, a genuine passion for, and deep personal commitment to advancing the community revitalization effort in the Hunting Park-East Tioga-Nicetown neighborhood.
    • Capacity to facilitate visionary thinking and to articulate a clear, collective vision that will motivate and inspire the collaboration.
    • Naturally creative, entrepreneurial, and eager to find innovative ways to launch and sustain North10 Philadelphia’s current and future initiatives and engage residents.
    • A strong public presence and the ability to represent North 10 Philadelphia effectively before a wide range of audiences.
    • Politically savvy, patient, and collaborative with excellent follow-through.
    • Capable of organizing community meetings, securing arrangements and preparing all components needed for constructive discussion.
    • Excellent oral and written communication and active listening skills
    • General understanding of marketing best practices.
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish, preferred.
