    Position Description

This ongoing, part-time hourly position (approximately 15 hours per month) leads Rain City Rock Camp’s marketing, design, and storytelling. The Marketing and Design Manager keeps RCRC’s voice and aesthetic consistent across social media, our website, newsletters, and printed materials; designs campaigns and show posters unique to each program; and works with staff at program events to gather participant voices so our community’s stories are told with care. Hours shift with the program calendar, with more time needed leading up to programs and showcases.

This position is ideal for a creative, organized designer and storyteller who understands that RCRC’s voice comes from our community and who wants to help it reach new audiences.

The top priority for this position is helping us fill program spots by advertising to current and new audiences. This includes finding new avenues and partnerships for promoting programs and managing a budget dedicated to marketing throughout the year. Each program can accommodate up to 35 campers and our goal is to have all 8 of our program weeks/weekends at full capacity.

Key Responsibilities (estimated average hours per month):

    • Social Media and Storytelling — 2 - 4 hours/month
      • Maintain a steady presence on social media, including reels, that reflects RCRC’s voice and aesthetic.
      • Coordinate with staff at program events to gather participant voice, photos, and stories.
      • Collaborate with the Director of Programs, the Volunteer and Teaching Artist Director, or the Executive Director, depending on the topic of the content.
    • Program Promotion and Advertising — 4 - 8 hours/month on average (varies with the program calendar)
      • Advertise programs through social media, organizational newsletters, posters, and arts calendar listings.
      • Design ad campaigns and show posters unique to each program.
      • Collaborate with the Director of Programs on camper recruitment and the Volunteer and Teaching Artist Director on volunteer recruitment.
      • Identify new spaces and communities for program recruitment beyond our current network.
    • Website Pop Ups and Advertising — 2 hours/month
      • Ensures all programs and events are promoted on the website through pop-ups and home page design.
    • Newsletters, Donor Materials, and Design Projects — 3 hours/month
      • Coordinate a monthly e-newsletter and twice yearly printed direct mail materials.
      • Design donor support materials in partnership with the Individual Giving Manager.
      • Design yearly themed materials and, potentially, merchandise.
      • Coordinate with staff and board to identify ways they can post or share, including templates or guides that make it easy to create supplemental content.
