Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000* (IC4/B8)
Facing History & Ourselves is a global education non-profit organization that challenges teachers and students to use lessons of history to stand up to racism, antisemitism, and other forms of bigotry and hate.
Who We Are: Facing History’s educational content is informed by a unique pedagogical model that helps students explore questions of identity, human behavior, prejudice, and civic responsibility, and make the essential connection between history and the moral choices they confront in their own lives today. We currently apply this model to explore case studies of pivotal historical moments such as the Holocaust and the Reconstruction Era following the American Civil War, as well as rich works of literature such as Brown Girl Dreaming. As we embark on a multi-year strategy to increase our presence in districts, we are seeking an Editorial Director, District Curricular Partnerships to help us meet our ambitious growth and impact goals.
Who You Are: You are an innovator, writer, teacher, and learner at heart, who is passionate about our mission and excited to develop and adapt content for the wide range of topics that comprise our social studies and English language arts editorial portfolio. You have a strong understanding of the curricular needs of teachers, schools, and districts, and you are able to communicate your expertise through the planning, development, and management of curricular resources. You are an organized timeline-oriented leader with at least 7 years of experience writing and adapting curriculum, including lesson plans, units, and standards alignment, for school and district audiences that cover a wide range of topics. The Editorial Director, District Curricular Partnerships will join a collaborative team whose roles include product innovation, writers, editors, production coordinators, marketing, sales, and strategy.
