    Job Overview

    The Video and Multimedia Production Lead is responsible for HRF’s multimedia strategy and production. This role is a key member of the communications and marketing team and works closely with digital, creative, and program teams, creating emotionally resonant, intellectually compelling storytelling across HRF’s channels to expand and engage our audiences. The Video and Multimedia Production Lead supervises HRF’s in-house production staff, manages freelance and agency relationships, and collaborates across the organization to develop high-impact content that elevates HRF’s voice and advances our mission.

    Responsibilities and Expectations

    • Lead the creation of best-in-class multimedia content, primarily video, but also including audio, experiential/event content, and social media initiatives.
    • Maintain multimedia production calendar and oversee all multimedia production from conception through filming/recording, editing, and post-production, in collaboration with digital, creative, and program teams. Ensure deadlines and quality standards are met in fast-paced environment.
    • Assess multimedia content performance, adjusting strategies based on analytics and audience engagement to drive impact and elevate HRF’s brand.
    • Develop and manage internal production team as well as external videographers, photographers, editors, animators, and other freelancers. Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external vendors, freelancers, and service providers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and alignment with HRF’s mission.
    • Cultivate distribution partnerships to ensure HRF multimedia content reaches the largest possible audience.
    • Establish policies and tools for multimedia asset management, ensuring HRF’s media assets are well-organized and securely archived.
    • Lead the procurement of necessary multimedia resources, from filming equipment to editing software, maintaining state-of-the-art production capabilities.
    • Write scripts and direct production processes for key projects, executing filming, editing, and graphics work as needed.
    • Act as the primary representative for HRF’s video and podcast work at conferences, partner meetings, and events, showcasing HRF’s media impact and production standards.
    • Work with the creative team to ensure that all multimedia projects adhere to HRF brand standards and coordinate graphic requirements with creative and design staff.
    • Create efficient and logical workflows to enhance output quality and team efficiency for complex projects, including managing approval processes through internal stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated excellence in compelling, mission-advancing multimedia storytelling on behalf of a major nonprofit, media organization, or cause-driven brand.
    • Exceptional taste and judgment in aesthetics and visual quality.
    • Advanced proficiency with video and audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Audition, Descript) and graphics tools (e.g., After Effects, Photoshop, Figma).
    • Advanced proficiency in operating professional A/V equipment and managing on-set production, including camera setup, lighting, and audio to ensure high-quality video shoots.
    • Experience in project management software, multimedia data organization/digital asset management tools, and network attached systems.
    • Experience with video/podcast recording, field producing, remote direction, and in-house filming.
    • Proficient in data-driven content optimization, including platform-specific engagement strategies, ensuring impact and continuous improvement of multimedia projects.
    • Experienced in developing content strategies, conducting performance analyses, and implementing improvements to optimize audience reach and engagement.
    • Proven leader with the ability to direct in-house and external teams, applying agile methodologies to ensure high-quality, on-time content delivery, with the ability to guide and inspire team members.
    • Proactive, resourceful, and adaptable to changing priorities with a strong ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.
    • Strong communicator capable of collaborating across departments and presenting multimedia initiatives at public events and partner engagements.
    • Skilled in building, scaling, and nurturing partnerships with global media, production, and analytics partners, including contract negotiation and partner alignment with HRF’s mission.
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Film Production, Communications, Media Studies, or related field preferred.

    Compensation

    $90,000–$110,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
