    THE CHISHOLM LEGACY PROJECT SUMMARY:

    The mission of the Chisholm Legacy Project is rooted in the Just Transition Framework. The project serves as a vehicle to connect Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with resources to traverse the path from vision to strategy to action plan to implementation to transformation. In support of frontline leadership, the project seeks to link movements and mainstream entities with the tools necessary to advance systems change centered in equity and justice. With Black women on the frontlines of advancing systems change, this project ensures that these leaders have the support they need as they transform society from extractivism to a living economy that cares for sacred relationships between people and with Mother Earth, through regenerative, cooperative, democratic systems.

    SUMMARY OF the POSITION:

    The organization seeks a Senior Project Manager of Executive Projects (SPMEP) with a commitment to supporting Black Liberation and a willingness to be on a learning journey joining an institution that is grounded in Black Liberation, Climate Justice, and Just Transition. The central 1) anchor the vision, strategy, and ethos for the org; 2) ensure the organization is fully resourced; 3) leverage our influence to impact the advancement of Black Liberation, Gender Justice, and Just Transition; and 4) ensure that the ED’s accumulated knowledge, skills, insights, and partnerships are shared internally and externally. This role will focus on accomplishing the aforementioned by acting as a steward to the projects within the Executive Director’s portfolio, throughout the lifecycle of the projects. The SPMEP will ensure that projects are high-impact and strategic in their orientation. The SPMEP will also work internally across departments, as necessary, to support alignment and cohesion within the organization.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Portfolio management

    • On-going evaluation of overall portfolio of projects with an eye toward strategy and impact
    • Work collaboratively with Managing Director of Organizational Development & Impact to determine EPM evaluation process and EPM KPIs
    • Produce regular reports, updates, and recommendations to the Team Lead

    Project opportunity identification and creation

    • Engage with ED’s network/landscape to ID areas of synergy and potential projects
    • Engage with the programs and operations department to identify opportunities for cross-department collaboration
    • Propose new projects to ED

    Internal projects collaboration and support

    • Collaborate with the project managers in the operations and programs departments in order to contribute to a holistic and cross-pollinated organizational flow
    • Offer appropriate support to projects across the organization (this may look like thought-partnership/brainstorming, or it may look like temporarily taking on tasks under the advisement of other project managers)

    Project management

    • Coordinate resources and third parties for the execution of projects
    • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
    • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility
    • Develop project plans to track progress
    • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
    • Measure project performance
    • Manage stakeholder relationships (within projects/as it pertains to specific cross-team and cross-organizational projects)
    • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties
    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

    Professional Development

    • Research best practices for implementation of diverse projects and portfolio management

    POSITION TERMS

    • This position is expected to work a 40-hour work week.
    • This position will receive a 90-day (about 3 months) performance review.
    • Ability to travel upon request; in addition to traveling to in-person meetings for the organization including but not limited to 2 to 6 staff retreats a year.
    • Position will be required to engage with a TCLP community once a quarter.
