    Working at Rainbow Labs

Rainbow Labs is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Queer and Gender Nonconforming (QGNC) youth by providing safe, inclusive, and peer-driven after-school programs. Guided by core values of Discovery, Awareness, Boldness, Curiosity, Accountability, and Inclusivity, Rainbow Labs offers mentorship and support to QGNC youth aged 12-18 through programs designed by and for them. Led by mentors trained in trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and youth development, these programs create spaces for youth to explore their identities, develop life skills, and engage in real-world applications.

    About the Role

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth? Do you thrive on creativity, connection, and community impact? If so, Rainbow Labs is calling your name! As a Program Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to empower LGBTQ+ youth through fun, dynamic, and transformative programs. You'll lead workshops, plan exciting field trips, spark advocacy efforts, and bring fresh ideas to life—all while championing our core values of Discovery, Awareness, Boldness, Curiosity, Accountability, and Inclusivity. Through both hands-on activities and youth-led advocacy initiatives, you'll help amplify young voices and drive meaningful change. This role is perfect for someone who’s a natural organizer, an empathetic leader, and a fearless problem-solver. If you’re ready to create safe, affirming spaces where youth can thrive and lead, we’d love to have you on our team!

    • Assist in building partnerships with community and corporate partners to support program goals.
    • Participate in initiatives to engage the community in program promotion and support.
    • Support outreach strategies to recruit LGBTQ+ youth effectively in East and South LA.

    • Lead and support youth programming to create a space that encourages exploration and learning for LGBTQ+ youth.
    • Coordinate field trips, workshops, and special events that expose youth to new experiences.
    • Facilitate creative activities that challenge youth to think critically and discover new concepts.
    • Collaborate with youth and mentors to co-create activities and experiences that align with program goals and foster exploration.
    • Utilize a feedback loop with participants to continuously improve programming and create innovative solutions.

    Boldness & Accountability

    • Empower youth, mentors, and facilitators to approach challenges with boldness and initiative.
    • Manage program schedules, attendance, and activities using project management tools.
    • Submit financial documentation (receipts, invoices) and ensure accurate, timely data entry for grant reporting.
    • Provide updates to the Program Manager on program progress, outcomes, and challenges.
    • Regularly track participant progress and engagement to ensure retention goals are met.
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on program outcomes to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

    Awareness & Administrative Support

    • Maintain youth case notes to ensure continuity of care and support.
    • Collaborate with the Program Manager on administrative tasks, including data entry and document management.
    • Coordinate the ordering and delivery of supplies and materials for youth programs.
    • Utilize the system for capturing and analyzing youth development data, focusing on key metrics such as confidence, connectedness, and belonging.
    • Proactively identify resource needs and coordinate with the administrative team to ensure timely availability.

    Skill & Qualifications

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage youth, mentors, and stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency with project management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and online communication tools.
    • Ability to foster positive relationships with youth, staff, and community partners.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and maintain an inclusive environment.
