YWCA seeks an organized and innovative Development Coordinator to join our Development Team. In this position, you will collaborate on fundraising efforts, manage donor data, and create dynamic marketing and social media content. With creativity and an eye for detail, the Development Coordinator will be on a mission to share YWCA of Greater Portland’s story with individuals, organizations, and the community.

    YWCA is on a Mission

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace,

justice, freedom, and dignity for all. For more than 120 years, YWCA of Greater Portland

has invested in our community, supported survivors, and advocated for the most

vulnerable among us: women, children, seniors, the unhoused, and the incarcerated. As

one of 200 Associations nationwide, we are proud members of YWCA USA, one of the

oldest and largest women's organizations in the nation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising

    • Participate in organizing and executing mail appeals, fundraising events, and donor solicitation projects.
    • Record donations in the donor database (Bloomerang) and generate acknowledgments and thank you letters.
    • Design and run donor reports and assist with database maintenance.
    • Help implement and create donor stewardship and solicitation plans with the Development Director.
    • Coordinate communications and calendars between the Development Team and outside partners, vendors, and donors.
    • Occasionally assist with grant research and applications.

    Marketing and Social Media

    • Assist the Development Director in creating direct mail campaigns, and corresponding digital strategies.
    • Create and manage content for YWCA of Greater Portland’s e-newsletter and social channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
    • Update and maintain the YWCA website.
    • Ensure consistency of YWCA brand throughout all communications.

    Other duties as assigned, including:

    • Help create, implement, and manage a pilot volunteer project for YWCA of Greater Portland’s Senior Services team.
    • Coordinate communication and administrative support between the Development team and YWCA’s Fiscally Sponsored Projects.

    Participatory teamwork and responsible representation

    • Engage consistently in anti-racism practices and approaches with internal and external work based on a deep understanding of historical and present-day structural racism.
    • Uphold YWCA of Greater Portland’s mission, vision, and values by acting with integrity, accountability, and responsibility toward survivor participants, service partners, fellow employees, volunteers, donors, and everyone the organization engages with.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Commits to anti-racism and anti-oppression practices, strives for equity in all aspects of their work, and has a strong understanding of trauma-informed principles and practices.
    • Is willing to incorporate constructive feedback and consider new perspectives.
    • Communicates clearly, consistently, and kindly with agency partners and colleagues, and responds in a timely, compassionate, and appropriate way to multiple partners.
    • Manages a complicated and frequently deadline-driven work environment with consistent and effective self-care strategies and techniques.
    • Advocates for social justice, including furthering the rights, protections, access to safety, and empowerment of historically oppressed, under-represented, and/or marginalized communities.
    • Brings an intersectional lens to the work that focuses on lived experience, resiliency, and opportunities for deeper learning. While not required, candidates with relevant lived experience in the communities we serve are strongly encouraged to apply.
