ABOUT: FirstPres Church of Hayward (FPCH) is a historic congregation and missional community striving to love our world well. Guided by our core beliefs and a commitment to anti-racist practices, we seek to fulfill our mission by serving our community through our four areas of ministry: Community Outreach (homeless shelters, food pantry, Recovery Cafe, and more), Church Life (congregational ministry engagement), HGG Childcare Center, and The Chabot Theater.
DESCRIPTION:The Daytime Outreach Manager oversees daytime operations and outreach services across FPCH. This position ensures that daytime programs run smoothly, safely, and with hospitality. This role emphasizes compassionate leadership, strong organization, and consistent presence on-site to maintain a welcoming and dignified environment for all guests.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all daytime operations at FPCH and SHP campuses.
- Directly supervisor for Resource Center Attendants.
- Serves as the hiring coordinator for Outreach attendant positions.
- Coordinate daily activities to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate service delivery to all guests.
- Maintain a consistent on-site presence to oversee safety, hospitality, and guest engagement.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.
- De-escalate conflicts or crises using trauma-informed and restorative practices.
- Oversee and assist with food service, supply distribution, and guest check-in processes.
- Ensure accurate documentation of daily attendance, incidents, and facility reports
- Communicate promptly with leadership about staffing, supply needs, maintenance issues, or emerging concerns.
- Support and collaborate with volunteers, community partners, and other FPCH ministries involved in outreach.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Promote FPCH’s values of dignity, justice, and belonging in all guest interactions
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in social services, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in outreach, social services, or nonprofit operations.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with G Suite, MS Office, and database systems.
- High level of integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to engage compassionately with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy for underserved communities.
- Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
