    About the Organization

Trama Textiles is a 100% worker-owned women’s weaving association based in Guatemala, created to help local women receive a fair salary through backstrap weaving textiles. We work directly with 15 weaving cooperatives, and represent 150 women from five different regions.

Working with Trama offers an excellent opportunity to understand the running of a small non-profit organization and gain first-hand experience working with rural communities in the Guatemalan Highlands, while learning about the diversity of Mayan culture and traditional weaving.

Our headquarters is in the beautiful highland city of Quetzaltenango (Xela). Our volunteer office is located within our local store, where we sell our handwoven crafts and host our weaving school — offering hands-on classes and demonstrations for individuals or tour groups interested in Guatemalan weaving.

We run cultural exchange tours, where individuals can spend time with a weaver and her family, learning to weave and gaining an understanding of Mayan culture. We also sell our products internationally through online platforms and wholesale clients. Recently, the cooperative has launched educational programs to offer development opportunities for cooperative members and scholarships for the children of our weavers.

    The Position

The Sales and Donations Coordinator is responsible for expanding Trama’s market presence through sales, marketing, donor engagement, and communications. This is a results-driven role ideal for someone passionate about sustainable fashion, ethical trade, and digital marketing. You will work part-time, alternating shifts with the Program Coordinator to maintain daily coverage and collaboration.

    • Maintain and schedule all social media content and promotional calendars.
    • Manage direct marketing via WhatsApp and client follow-ups.
    • Write and distribute newsletters, blog posts, and donor updates.
    • Promote Trama House (accommodation) and cultural exchange experiences.
    • Coordinate volunteers in marketing, donations, and customer service.
    • Contact tourism agencies and sustainable brands for partnerships.
    • Write grant proposals and manage sponsorship (“padrino”) programs.
    • Produce monthly performance reports on sales and digital campaigns.

    Desired Experience and Skills

    • Background in Marketing, Communications, E-commerce, or Sales.
    • Proven experience managing social media, paid advertising, and SEO/SEM.
    • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
    • Organized, analytical, and goal-oriented mindset.
    • Experience managing or mentoring volunteers.
    • Intermediate Spanish level (able to communicate with artisans and clients).
    • Passion for fair trade, sustainability, and cultural heritage.

    Schedule

Part-time (approximately 26 hours per week): three full days, with alternating half-days on Thursdays and Fridays.

    Benefits

    • Lead digital marketing and sales in a purpose-driven ethical fashion brand.
    • Build meaningful global and local partnerships.
    • Gain hands-on experience in NGO communications and e-commerce.
