The California coast is home to incredible wildlife like sea otters, turtles, and birds. But life in the ocean is at risk due to overfishing and climate change. Already, 90% of the world's large fish, like sharks and tuna, are gone.
One of the best ways to help wildlife is by expanding marine protected areas, which are off-limits to commercial activity. The Newsom administration is considering new marine protections, including at Monterey. We are hiring canvassers and field managers in our Oakland office to educate the public about the issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence decision-makers.

Canvassing staff earn a base pay of $18.00 per hour, plus can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum fundraising standard, giving staff the opportunity to earn more than $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. Depending on performance and location, canvassers earn an average of between $18 to $24 per hour.
