Improving Health Care for Every New Yorker

United Hospital Fund (UHF) is dedicated to creating an effective and equitable health care system for all New Yorkers. As an independent nonprofit, we analyze public policy, unite diverse stakeholders, and support innovative programs to improve health and health care. Our mission includes breaking down barriers in health policy and delivery to ensure equitable health opportunities. UHF’s emerging new line of Medicaid work seeks to achieve this vision by bridging and advancing quality and equity and supporting the delivery of health-related social needs (HRSN) screening and services.

    About the Role:

United Hospital Fund (UHF) is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Manager to support the implementation of significant work facilitating activities under New York Medicaid’s 1115 waiver. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth coordination of program activities, alignment across internal and external stakeholders, and timely delivery of key milestones. The Project Manager will work closely with senior leadership, internal teams, and external partners to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Ideal candidates will bring at least five years of project management experience—preferably in health care, Medicaid, public policy, or nonprofit sectors—and possess a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

    Responsibilities:

    • Project Operations: Oversee day-to-day management of waiver program activities, including work plans, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Cross-Team Coordination: Act as a central liaison across internal workstreams to facilitate collaboration, streamline communications, and track progress.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Support planning and execution of stakeholder meetings, convenings, and strategic engagements with both internal staff and external partners.
    • Reporting & Documentation: Draft agendas, meeting notes, status updates, and progress reports to promote transparency and accountability.
    • Process Optimization: Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, enhance team workflow, and ensure timely execution.
    • Strategic Alignment: Partner with the Managing Director and other senior leaders to ensure projects remain aligned with organizational goals and evolving program needs.
    • Knowledge Management: Maintain organized, accessible project documentation and shared resources to support effective knowledge transfer and institutional memory.
    • Communications & Materials Development: Contribute to the development of slide decks, briefings, and summary materials for a range of audiences, including funders, government agencies, and advisory bodies.
    • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively identify potential risks or barriers to project execution and collaborate with leadership to develop mitigation strategies.

    Requirements:

    • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management tools such as Asana, Smartsheet, or similar platforms is preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in public health, public policy, healthcare administration, or a related field strongly preferred.
