    COORDINATOR

    Development and Outreach Department

    Geneva Office

    The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Coordinator in its Geneva office to provide fundraising, outreach, coordination, and administrative assistance to the team. The Geneva office serves as an important base for HRW’s development, fundraising, and outreach activities in Switzerland. This position is part-time at 32 hours per week and reports to the Associate Director, Development and Outreach based in Geneva. This position must be based within commuting distance of the Geneva office, and is expected to work from the office as needed.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure accurate and timely recording of all campaigns, appeals, gifts and contact information on Salesforce; generating financial reports, lists and queries, and updating information;
    2. Provide administrative support including scheduling, preparing for and taking minutes at meetings, preparing agendas and background materials, processing mail, responding to inquiries, and making travel arrangements; processing and tracking department expenses;
    3. Coordinate and organize the logistics and execution of logistics for outreach and cultivation events in/around Geneva, including HRW's Voices for Justice Annual dinner, conferences and privately hosted events;
    4. Prepare, draft, edit, format, and distribute various materials for both internal and external use, translating documents, proofreading of content for newsletters, printed materials, and presentations;
    5. Assist with donor relations including writing gift acknowledgment letters, tax receipts, and tracking communication with Geneva Committee members, donors, and supporters;
    6. Act as a liaison, maintaining active communication with other departments and project stakeholders, responding to general inquiries from both the public and internal teams;
    7. Assist with the recruitment and training of interns;
    8. Provide support to the team by assisting with donor research and profiles as needed; and
    9. Perform other tasks as may be required.

    Qualifications:

    Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in communications, business administration, international relations, events management, or a related field is required.

    Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience and demonstrated success in coordinating events is required.

    Related Skills and Knowledge

    1. Prior office/administration experience, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail are required.
    2. Exercise strong interpersonal skills in order to work collegially and collaboratively within the team and across HRW to help create a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture.
    3. Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English are essential, with the ability to flex to meet audience needs, and empathetic active listening skills.
    4. Strong interest in international human rights and a commitment to personal learning and development.
    5. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of audiences, including donors are required.
    6. Ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
    7. Experience with event planning, community engagement, and/or philanthropy is highly desirable.
    8. Self-motivation and ability to prioritize between multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, and complete tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner, while maintaining confidentiality as needed is required.
    9. Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office applications is required.
    10. Professional experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud is highly desirable.

    Salary and Benefits: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers comprehensive compensation and employer-paid benefits. The gross annualized salary range for this position is CHF 73,000 – 76,000, which will be pro-rated to CHF 58,400 – 60,800, to reflect an 80% (32 hours per week) working schedule.
