    Descripción

    The Membership and Advancement Operations Project Manager supports Membership initiatives and Advancement operational excellence by ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery of membership programs and activities and maintaining effective processes that enhance the member and constituent experience, primarily through the coordination of cross-functional project teams.

    The Project Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of Membership, and partners closely with the Office of Advancement Directors and Assistant Directors as relevant to support continuous productivity and growth across Membership and Advancement operations by facilitating timely project completion, improving workflows, and identifying risks. This role is vital to the implementation of each Institutional Membership/Partnership and other new mechanisms through which to grow our member base and will operationalize and improve our engagement-focused membership model, explore and implement new technology solutions to better serve our constituents, and improve the overall member experience through new programs, systems and procedures.

    What You’ll Do

    Membership Initiative Management

    • Facilitate the growth of Institutional Memberships and Partnerships by providing daily project management support from proposal to launch and stewardship of each institutional relationship, working closely with the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships, Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships, and Director of Strategic Partnerships under the guidance of the Senior Director of Membership.
    • Lead regular planning, check-in and working meetings with Information Technology, Research and Data Analytics, Membership, and Philanthropy teams to plan and execute projects that impact systems and technology; constituent support; marketing and member acquisition; and member and donor engagement, stewardship and retention.
    • Oversee daily activities and tasks for interdisciplinary project teams, keeping the Senior Director of Membership informed to ensure adherence to best practices, quality standards, and project timelines.
    • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external consultants.
    • Identify potential risks or roadblocks and collaborate with the Senior Director of Membership to develop and present solutions.
    • Work closely with the IT Program Manager to keep Airtable and Dropbox project tracking documents, notes and calendars up to date with requirements documents, project progress and completion status.

    Operations Management

    • Manage regular audits of membership communications and tools including emails, websites, and engagement platforms, in partnership with the Assistant Director of Member Experience, Director of Engagement, and Director of Marketing.
    • Manage ongoing maintenance of self‑service resources (Contact Us and FAQ portals across AAAS and Science sites, AAAS Community FAQ, Join and Renewal Flow FAQs) in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Member Experience.
    • Assist the Senior Director of Membership with project management tasks related to the quality control of membership operations and the member and constituent experience.
    • Assist the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships with Annual Meeting operations by providing project management support.

    Minimum requirements/skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Formal training or certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM, Agile/Scrum) is strongly preferred.
    • Experience managing cross‑functional projects and coordinating diverse teams.
    • Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Commitment to process improvement and operational excellence.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
    • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.
    • Familiarity with membership operations, customer experience, or related fields preferred.

    DC Metro Area is preferred but open to remote workers in select states.     The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $70,000 – $73,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.

    Any actual offer of employment, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be made in the sole discretion of AAAS and will be based on a variety of factors, including years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant factors.
