    About the Role

The Senior Manager, Programs & Instruction is a key leadership position responsible for instructional leadership, program coordination, and staff supervision across multiple initiatives. This role ensures that programs are high-quality, youth-centered, well-coordinated, and delivered with consistency and care.

This position is ideal for a leader who is equally comfortable facilitating learning spaces, coaching staff, and holding systems together. The role includes direct instructional and facilitation responsibilities, particularly for advanced cohorts, leadership groups, and high-stakes or public-facing learning experiences.

This role does not replace executive leadership in fundraising, political strategy, or external advocacy, but serves as the primary internal bridge between vision and execution.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instructional Leadership & Facilitation

      • Design and facilitate instructional sessions for advanced youth cohorts, leadership groups, or cross-program learning spaces
      • Lead or co-facilitate high-stakes or complex sessions where instructional expertise is required
      • Prepare youth and staff for public-facing workshops, panels, and presentations
      • Lead training and preparation for facilitators, interns, and mentors
      • Model trauma-informed, culturally responsive facilitation practices
      • Ensure instructional coherence across programs (shared language, norms, and learning goals)

    Program Leadership & Coordination

      • Oversee the planning and coordination of multiple programs or initiatives
      • Ensure alignment across schedules, staffing, and delivery formats
      • Maintain clarity around scope, priorities, and program guardrails
      • Identify and address risks or breakdowns in execution early

    Staff Supervision & Performance Management

      • Supervise program staff, facilitators, interns, and support roles
      • Assign work, review deliverables, and provide ongoing feedback
      • Support staff development while enforcing role clarity and accountability
      • Address performance concerns and escalate issues appropriately

    Program Integration & Quality Assurance

      • Ensure consistency and quality across instructional content and delivery
      • Prevent duplication, contradiction, or drift across initiatives
      • Review program outputs and documentation for completeness and quality
      • Support continuous improvement through reflection and feedback loops

    Partner & Stakeholder Coordination (Execution-Level)

      • Support implementation-level relationships with schools, organizations, and community partners
      • Coordinate logistics and readiness for partner-facing activities
      • Ensure partners are prepared for youth engagement and program participation

    Internal Planning & Communication

      • Lead internal planning meetings related to program execution
      • Maintain clear documentation of program operations and decisions
      • Serve as the primary escalation point for program staff
      • Communicate regularly with the CEO regarding progress, risks, and needs

What This Role Is — and Is Not

    This role is:

      • Instructional and facilitative
      • Supervisory and accountability-focused
      • Program-integrative and execution-oriented

    This role is not:

      • A daily classroom teaching position
      • An executive fundraising or political role
      • A hands-off administrative management position

Instructional leadership is selective and strategic, not routine site coverage.

    Qualifications & Experience

      • Demonstrated experience in youth development, education, or community-based program leadership
      • Strong facilitation and instructional leadership skills with youth and adults
      • Experience supervising staff and supporting performance improvement
      • Ability to balance structure, accountability, and relational leadership
      • Comfort working across instruction, supervision, and coordination
      • Strong judgment around boundaries, escalation, and risk management

    Compensation & Benefits

      • Salary Range: $78,000 – $92,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
      • Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and additional benefits consistent with organizational policy
      • This role is full-time and exempt

The salary range reflects the scope of instructional leadership, staff supervision, and program integration responsibilities associated with this position.

We strongly encourage candidates who reflect the communities we serve to apply, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color; women; LGBTQ+ individuals; people with disabilities; and individuals with lived experience relevant to youth, education, or community-based work.

We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen our programs, our organization, and our impact.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

    Compensación

      • Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and additional benefits consistent with organizational policy

The Senior Manager, Programs & Instruction must be able to clearly facilitate learning experiences, provide feedback to staff, communicate with partners, and produce concise written materials such as lesson plans, guidance documents, and summaries. Bilingual or multilingual abilities (including Spanish) are highly valued but not required and may be leveraged to strengthen engagement with youth, families, and community partners.
