The Position
The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a strategic, collaborative, and results-driven Senior Director of Development to lead fundraising strategy and execution across individual, corporate, and organizational donor segments. This leadership role will guide the implementation of multi-channel fundraising efforts, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, direct mail, and digital strategies to fuel NWLC’s mission to advance gender justice.
Reporting to the Vice President for Development, the Senior Director of Development will set vision, manage a high-performing team responsible for a $10M+ portfolio, and strengthen organization-wide fundraising strategy, with a focus on sustaining and expanding support from major donors across constituencies.
The Senior Director of Development will represent the organization with top-level donors, partners, and stakeholders, directly manage a donor portfolio to ensure shared accountability for fundraising success, and generate revenue across NWLC’s full range of entities, including its 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PAC, and designated legal and advocacy funds.
This is a full-time, exempt position of 37.5 hours per week.

Key Relations
The Senior Director of Development will report directly to the Vice President for Development and manage a growing team of frontline major gift officers and the potential to hire additional frontline fundraisers. The Senior Director of Development will collaborate closely with the President & CEO, Senior Director of Foundation Engagement, Chief of Staff, Chief of External Affairs, and key colleagues across the Development, Communications, Program, and Finance teams.
Compensation & Benefits
A salary within the range of $172,765-194,605 will be provided to the successful candidate with at least 10 years of experience, consistent with the National Women’s Law Center’s compensation framework. The successful candidate’s salary within this range will be determined by the number years of relevant experience they bring to the role.
The Center offers a comprehensive benefits package, and four weeks of annual vacation.
NWLC is a non-profit organization whose headquarters and staff are based in Washington, D.C. at our new office at 1350 Eye Street N.W. This role is based in D.C. and will be eligible for some telework while also being expected to work in person on a regular basis. The successful candidate will need to live in or relocate to the DMV (broadly defined as DC, Maryland, or Virginia).
The first 90 days of employment will be considered a probationary period.
Classification
This position is a management role and as such is not included in the union-represented bargaining unit, NWLC United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70.
