The Position
We seek an experienced Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive support to our CEO/President. This role requires a seasoned professional who can anticipate needs, exercise independent judgment, and serve as a trusted partner in managing the priorities of our organization's leadership. The ideal candidate brings maturity, discretion, and a track record of supporting senior executives in fast-paced environments.
This position is based in our Washington, DC, office with flexibility for fully remote work. Some travel is required for organizational events and board meetings.
Major Responsibilities
Executive Support
- Manage and optimize the CEO's calendar, prioritizing competing demands and ensuring strategic use of time
- Handle incoming communications with professionalism and sound judgment, responding independently when appropriate
- Liaise with the Board of Directors on behalf of the CEO
- Prepare and edit correspondence, presentations, reports, and other materials
- Conduct research and synthesize information to support decision-making
- Maintain confidential files and sensitive organizational records
Funder and Stakeholder Relations
- Coordinate the CEO's engagement with foundation officers, major donors, and other key funders
- Prepare briefing materials in advance of funder meetings and site visits
- Support grant reporting processes and funder relationship management
- Maintain systems for tracking funder communications and deliverables
Operations and Collaboration
- Arrange complex travel itineraries and manage expense reporting
- Plan and execute organizational events, including staff retreats and external convenings
- Work collaboratively with staff across all levels and departments
- Provide administrative coverage and support for the leadership team as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, with significant experience supporting C-suite executives
- Prior experience working with nonprofit boards of directors, including board meeting coordination and board relations
- Experience supporting foundation and funder relationships, including coordinating funder meetings and grant-related communications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Dropbox, Zoom, Monday.com
- Experience with event planning and logistics coordination
- Ability to work effectively in a remote/hybrid environment with distributed team
- Experience in education nonprofit sector
- Familiarity with foundation and government grant processes
- Experience supporting funder relationship management
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and expertise: Range $95,000-$110,000 annually
- Excellent benefits package including paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee and family, 14 paid holidays, three weeks of PTO in Year 1 and then four weeks thereafter, two weeks annual sick leave, retirement matching up to 6% on employee contributions or on qualified student loan payments, $1500 annual professional development funds, and annual home office reimbursements up to $250
Location
This position is based in Washington, DC, with the option for remote work with some travel.
