    Position Summary: Student Leadership Network is seeking a Manager of Institutional Giving. Reporting to the Director of Institutional and Corporate Giving, the Manager will directly support Student Leadership Network’s foundation, corporate, and government fundraising efforts, which currently comprise $5.5 million of the organization’s $14 million revenue for the current fiscal year. This role will collaborate with other departmental teams at Student Leadership Network, as needed.

    The Network is supported by some of NYC’s and the nation's most rigorous education funders, including Bloomberg Philanthropies, Robin Hood, the Clark Foundation, and the Charles Hayden Foundation. The Manager of Institutional Giving will support all aspects of the institutional and corporate giving program, including conducting all institutional prospect research, growing a pipeline of prospective funders, and ensuring the cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and solicitation of foundation, corporate, and government funders. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work with a fantastic team of committed professionals dedicated to educational equity!

    The successful candidate will have at least three to five years of institutional relations experience with foundation, corporate, and government sources in a non-profit setting. Experience working with data teams to track metrics for funders, a demonstrated track record of surpassing fundraising goals, and a passion for equalizing educational opportunities for students growing up in diverse, underserved communities are essential.

    Primary Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Grant Management & Development

    • Support the Director of Institutional and Corporate giving with grant writing and drafting fundraising documents, including letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and cover letters.
    • Manage the process for securing funding from the New York City Council and other public sources.
    • Collaborate with network staff and the finance department to ensure reports and proposals are submitted on time.
    • Develop fresh and compelling documentation to support funding reports and proposals, while maintaining existing materials.
    • Responsible for continuously updating and evolving the organization's language and framing for grants, reports, and other external purposes.

    Relationship & Portfolio Management

    • Manage a select portfolio of institutional and corporate funders, including:
    • Developing meaningful relationships with key contacts through personalized stewardship;
    • Preparing thorough briefing materials for leadership meetings and site visits;
    • Creating compelling grant proposals and comprehensive reports aligned with funder guidelines;
    • Ensuring timely follow-through on all grant commitments and reporting requirements.
    • Track funder activities utilizing Salesforce to ensure that funder interactions are documented, and assigned action steps are completed and regularly updated.

    Research & Strategic Development

    • Perform strategic research to discover potential institutional donors that could form a sustainable funding pipeline.
    • Understand Student Leadership Network's mission and goals to effectively research, monitor, and identify new potential sources of funding.
    • Stay up-to-date on current trends in foundation, corporate, and government giving and engage in training and professional development opportunities as appropriate.

    Cross-Departmental Collaboration

    • Contribute to other development and program team activities, including supporting corporate volunteer events, writing corporate proposals and reports, and researching existing and prospective corporate funders, as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Key Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of grant writing experience in the nonprofit development field.
    • Must possess excellent persuasive writing skills and be highly detail-oriented.
    • Aptitude for being highly organized; interest in developing project management skills.
    • Must be collaborative and demonstrate initiative in managing personal time and project deadlines.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize while working under multiple deadlines.
    • Familiarity with institutional funder research is preferred.
    • Familiarity with donor database software (e.g., Salesforce) and prospect search engines (e.g., iWave) is preferred.
    • Passionate about Student Leadership Network’s mission, and committed to teamwork and being results-oriented.
    • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and editing skills.
    • Demonstrates ability to communicate in small groups, one-to-one, and in public speaking. Possesses exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Google Business applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive); Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); proficiency with Salesforce and project management software (e.g., Asana) is a plus.
    • A demonstrated passion for expanding educational opportunities for students from under-served communities and commitment to Student Leadership’s mission, vision, and core values.
