About STEAM the Streets
STEAM the Streets is a bi-coastal mission-driven organization using media, music, arts, and STEAM education to inspire youth and guide them to real pathways of opportunity. Our work spans media production, school-based programs, live assembly performances, community partnerships and outreach, and a mobile learning platform. We strive to be a multi-faceted inspiration machine.
We're growing, and we're looking for a highly capable, deeply reliable person to grow with us.
The Role
This is not a single-function role. The Operations Coordinator is the Founder's operational right hand; someone who takes real ownership of the work that keeps this organization running across multiple domains simultaneously.
You will touch marketing execution, project coordination, school partnerships, finance administration and media logistics. The right person for this role doesn't see that variety as chaos. They see it as the job, and they find satisfaction in making all of it move.
This role is the entry point to a Chief of Operations trajectory. Over time, as you build context and demonstrate ownership, you will transition from executing tasks to owning functions and coordinating teams, serving as an organizational quarterback alongside the Founder/ED.
This role is right for you if...
- You're someone who can draft a press release in the morning, follow up with a school about logistics at noon, and reconcile an invoice by end of day, and feel good about all three.
- You don't need to be told twice. You follow through, you close the loop, and you flag problems before they become fires.
- You have strong writing chops - newsletter copy, external emails, press releases, and short-form content are all in your comfort zone.
- You genuinely care about youth, education, or creative/arts work - not as a tagline, but as a reason you show up.
What You'll Do
Your work will span four core areas. Below is an honest picture of what this looks like day to day.
Operations & Project Management
- Manage and maintain operational tools, software, and systems to keep work running smoothly
- Create and maintain project management spreadsheets and trackers
- Set up and coordinate meetings across teams
- Manage part-time creative and administrative team members
- Take notes in weekly team meetings with leadership and operationalize action items
- Plan and coordinate events
- Identify workflow gaps and suggest improvements as the org grows
Marketing & Communications Execution
- Coordinate video shoots: scheduling, logistics, and communication
- Manage website updates and keep the Linktree current
- Assemble proposals, decks, and one pagers
- Enter new email contacts into the database
- Coordinate printing and event materials: stickers, banners, signage, and other needs
School Programming
- Coordinate programs that take place at partner school sites
- Run brief tech and logistics meetings with school contacts to confirm details
- Follow up with interested schools about assembly performances and programs
Finance & Administrative Support
- Pay bills and manage outgoing vendor payments
- Pay the team and coordinate with the external accountant
- Send and follow up on invoices
- Book travel as needed
- Other duties as assigned
How This Role Grows
This role is designed with an explicit growth track. The title, scope, and compensation are all expected to evolve as you demonstrate ownership and build organizational context.
